When enabling XInput in the options according to your controls guide there’s an error immediately when starting up the game “XInput support requires Windows 8 or greater. XInput will be disabled.”

Is it okay to swap from Win7 to Win8 for this? Or is there another solution

You shouldn't need to turn on XInput for Steam Deck, it's just for Windows.
