Resta Rangefinder Addon

This addon draws Resta range as a circle on the minimap.
It also has an option to show Shifta and Zalure.
Class and equipment boosts are included.

Resta Rangefinder was inspired by: No Resta Grr - DF Users Grr - a neverending debate?

Installation

Unarchive Resta Rangefinder (attached to this post) into your addons folder.
It depends on psobbaddonplugin and PSOBBMod-Addons, so please install those first.

Usage

You may need to calibrate corner guides to the minimap on first run.
Drag and then nudge the guides into place at either two corners.

Demo

Special thank you to ELENOR for standing still during testing.

It's a nice addon, but the calibration seems off target for me.

Looks like I missed out on the debate since that thread got locked, but I'll share my vote with this picture.

Too bad I spam Resta these days since I don't play as a hunter lately.

Thank you for taking the time to give it a whirl and provide feedback.

For calibration, the corner guides should be just touching/enclosing (but not inside) the minimap. If you have some time later to post a few screenshots showing how it's off, I'll take a look. Good luck spamming Resta!

After recalculating my coordinates, I noticed that I don't have a compass in the bottom right corner of the mini map after comparing my screen to the reference images in the original post, but that's a minor detail.

The part that matters is the small green square that appears in the top left corner of the mini map, and this square shows up if the calibration is correct. I attached a picture of a successful casting of Resta that reaches Elenor in the side story quest, Magnitude of Metal. I doubt that the difference in height would affect the addon's measurement by much unless I'm missing something there.

This definitely must be how the calibration is supposed to work as designed, right? I notice that it's close enough for the colorfully elongated arrows as playable characters, or NPCs, to look a bit off center, but I see how this is good enough for what this addon is accomplishing here.

Thank you for the screenshot and additional details.

I agree that the missing compass is likely unimportant. The square at the top left appears when calibration is square  — not necessarily correct  —   but your calibration looks to be about right.

As designed, if a circle partially intersects with another player's triangle marker as show here, then they may (or may not) be targeted. Without accounting for player heading, it's a bit more art than science, but to avoid healing others please ensure they are completely outside of the circle. A FOnewearl can target ELENOR from down there, but without a boost I was unable to, so you may compare the apparent circle size with another character class to get a feel for this.

One thing I have not tested is the high res HUD option from the launcher, so I'm unsure if that can change the appearance.

I put the addon in there in the addons folder but its not showing up.
Most addons have a configuration.lua, options.lua, and init.lua

This one only has init.lua

I figured, that this idea specifically was one of the most constructive things coming from that thread so it would be better to archive what we have until it derails any further. It felt like nothing substantial was going to be added going foward. Glad this Addon exists now to give us at least another tool to work with. Having the radius showing around the players character would be too much to ask for and probably way too intrusive.

Thanks rend for making this!

THANK YOU SO MUCH

Thank you both for the kind words. It's clear a lot of players are still passionate about this game, and that's pretty special.

You saved many forces from frustration.

Thank you. As you may have noticed, I am still enjoying Striker of Hero Chao! Having support for S-Red's Blade in the addon, maybe HUmar can find some use too. Although barriers do not boost its special.

fooling around with it a bit, it actually does wonders for huney/ramarl zalure positioning for zalure as well. I love it.

With a song in their heart and a Clio in their hand. May the HUney and RAmarl of Ragol never miss Zalure on an important tower spawn again. I suspected range was level dependent, but actually testing that to quantify it for this was… interesting. Thank you.

Neither if i have Rupika shield? I've never reflected about it.
