CCC adjustment copium thread

I remember looking into that quest a year ago and it said drops disabled on the wiki so was that wrong? and players took advantage of some kind of insider knowledge?

I probably wouldn't have spammed it outside XP purposes because I prefer to multi anyway. Just seems unfair that anyone willing to tolerate standing in one spot for hours on end got to abuse that quest for loot/PDs while the rest of us were none the wiser. Glad it's patched now at least.

Im unsure if the wiki said drops disabled or not prior to the update, but if so then yes it was wrong. CCC was a very common quest to run during events since it:
1) gave lots of chances at event drops (cookies, presents, Easter eggs)
2) gave lots of chances at event rappies (this mattered more when vivienne got moved off of love rappy and onto el rappy)
3) was the optimal hunt for rambling may, vivienne, and some other drops

Balance-wise it should have been disabled long ago. But yes, it was commonly hunted by a lot of players (myself included, though I didnt enjoy the quest)

Classic Temple is essentially worthless. You have Yellow 3084 and Whitill DoBs (which are invalid because PW1), nothing else.
uhhhhh oran gets you aura field and god/hp. and purplenum gets you yasminkov 9000m. you would know this if you played classic™.

From looking at the history of the page, it looks like it never indicated that regular drops were enabled or disabled.

From what I understand, the original version of the quest, on completion (likely only on Ultimate but idk), granted chances at various strong rare items like Diska of Braveman, Yunchang, Slicer of Fanatic, common Swords/Shots/Rods, Holy Ray, andthenalsoLeCogneurforwhateverfuckinreason with high attributes, including Hit %.

Because Ephinea doesn't balance like Schthack, Ultima, Destiny, etc., these rewards were removed, probably very early on into the quest being implemented on the server (but Wiki changes aren't an inherent source of an accurate timeline for changes, so this is only speculation based on those changes), but the regular enemy drops weren't until now.

Being able to play multiplayer quests in solo mode seems a lot more damaging to the game than this.

Was looking at some older posts here and the reason for this is apparently because of the PSO2 drop system implemented here. The PSO2 drop system is incredibly OP going by vanilla standards of the game once it got added it became quickly apparent it would cause a huge imbalance in favour of multi mode gameplay.

If you are going to suggest removing multi mode quests from OPM I would also be looking at removing the entire PSO2 drop system altogether to keep the balance in check right now we have a more or less stable balance between solo mode and multi mode games only because the multi mode quests were added to OPM. Solo mode games would be almost non existent if this were removed which I am against since some players are just recluses and don't like interactions with others which shouldn't be condemned if that is how they want to play and shouldn't be penalized for it.

So you're saying bring back dropcamping from bosses with ppl macroinputting to get the drop first frame? I'm good lol. Adding to the pseudo sarcasm aside we got rid of regular drops for a reason.

The PSO2 drop system is NOT incredibly OP by vanilla standards.

Previous versions of PSO, even including Schtserv, had a tremendous amount of duped / hacked / pay-to-win gear.

This masked how abysmal the game was at handing out progression-significant items.

Few players would have put up with such a small drip feed of progress back in the day if cheating had not been possible, so comparing Ephinea with vanilla PSO is never going to be a valid measuring stick. (Cheating is virtually impossible on Ephinea and pay to win mechanics are not allowed.)

I'm a good case study that even the current "generous" version of PSO is still too harsh. Even WITH Ephinea's PSO2 drop system, I spent five years trying to find a second 45 hit Heaven Striker and finally threw in the towel and spent an absurd number of PDs to buy one. I hunted for a 50 hit Cannon Rouge for 3 years and had to buy one. With vanilla drops, this would have been up to four times harder. And before anyone says it's because I didn't play enough, I have about three BILLION total experience points on this server, with several million enemies killed.

I am proof the item rarity on this game, and the time needed to acquire true endgame gear, is absurd. Even when it's "easier."

I hate to say it, because I was such a staunch defender of playing legitimately back in the day, but the wealth disbursement of original PSO was so poor that cheating probably saved it from people giving up on it immediately, and we probably wouldn't be here without cheating. (The game would have died too early for capable individuals to develop interest in building private servers.)

Nobody wants to play a loot based game that never gives any good loot.

Funny how things work out.

Edit: Both PSO2 drops and OPM quests should stay. If you can spend years or decades perfecting your gearset in the current meta, it doesn't need to be made any more difficult.

While I think it would be awesome and fun to directly debate Ade on the absolutely insane take that "nobody got gear in classic PSO without PSO2 mode" actually is, this topic is derailing and I think should just be locked at this point.

I'm not saying nobody got gear. I'm saying that you didn't really see any LEGIT players running around with completely finished and sphered gearsets on PSO GC. Even several years in. (Vanilla BB wasn't around long enough for this happen, but the pacing was the same.)

I played PSO GC legitimately for four years and I found enough PDs to fully sphere ONE item. This is because PDs are dropping for the entire party, and people snipe / steal drops if you aren't playing solo, so the gear progression is WAY SLOWER.

That's what I was getting it, and I think I made that pretty clear.

I felt the need to emphatically discuss this because I don't want the Ephinea devs thinking that Ephinea PSO is too generous with loot and then start making things worse. The game is NOT too generous with loot. You can spend 10 years playing consistently and not "finish" this game. That is proof positive it doesn't need to be made worse. Games are not meant to be multi-decade experiences and PSO seems to be a rare exception.

Anyway, assuming I have approximately 15 - 20 pieces of fully sphered gear, it would have taken me about 50 to 80 years of playing PSO GC, with shared drops and no boosts, to get to where I am now on Ephinea PSO BB. This objectively demonstrates that progression, while still POSSIBLE on vanilla PSO, was too stingy. And you know damn well that's what I was getting at. Come on, man.

But yeah this topic has run its course. CCC is still good for getting to VH and then maybe shift over to the actual game at that point, so it still has its place in the meta. Time to move on with life.

Weird to see non-mods ask for a topic to be locked. I've often seen forum mods as the police state cramping our freedom of expression, but I guess some of you like it...

TO STAY ON TOPIC: Well, with CCC drops gone I've been unsealing with MAE Ep4. It's pretty slow and miserable to an extent that the EP IV VH drop charts don't really make up for. I might just go back to CCC for unsealing.

Non-mods ask for topics to be locked all the time. I’ve been the recipient of this behavior on numerous occasions. But you’re right, if people still have additional stories / hardships to share, then please continue.

Its a significantly weirder take to compare me to state troopers that oppress freedom of expression by suggesting this thread be locked.
This is exactly why I suggested for the thread to be locked, because of unhelpful stuff like this.

I do agree this thread is getting maybe a little out of hand, so I think it's important for everyone to take a healthy step back and remember that the most important takeaway here is that Ender should really make AddSlots stackable. Or Heart of Laconium Axe compatible with Photon Filter. I'm not picky.

You know what you're right Sundark. Let's do that.
