Huge announcement..
I looked around 3 days ago and I found out that SCHTHack is back...
I was trying out their new server but since I personally have gotten used to Ephinea now and the community time can only tell if this one will last....

Yeah everyone knows. I don't think anyone here really cares though, although people are going back over there (was like 30 players the other day)

We'll see if it goes anywhere, but right now it's being hosted on SCHTHack's computer in Québéc, lol. Laggy as fuck, plus their server has had no changes for any platform whatsoever (apart from BB not being legitimate anymore; they expect people to sort themselves out as legitimate/non-legitimate players).

Also I changed your hyperlink because it was redirecting to some spam/malware site.

Also just because of the way you worded your post, Ephinea was not designed to be at temporary server while SCHTServ was down, and is still staying up.

ELux85 must have not read the FAQ. :p

Also deleted the link since this isn't the server advertisement forum and we only accept Tethealla servers to be advertised anyhow.

I'll ask the important question.

Is Battle record in lobby finally fixed over there?

And when I say no changes, I mean no changes.

Despite allowing "hacks" on their server now, they're keeping AntiHack.dll because people should "earn" their hacks or something.

It should just be removed since it's almost just like spyware. Checking your window names, closing things it doesn't like, and so on. At least that's what I heard it does anyway. I haven't been on that server since 2007 or maybe 2008. I actually missed that whole era, though I did post on the forums from time to time.

is that br sounding admin supposed to be christian? lol
fuck that dude :(

i was b& before antihack was a thing but from what i heard it was very intrusive. well, i'll probably play gamecube there at least

lol yeah that's him. I'm puzzled as to why he's suddenly returned after dying for like 7 years.

Crono still the head honcho though, so trust is not restored.

It would be hilarious if it weren't so stupid: people went to great lengths to remove GameGuard from BB, and Lee goes and adds a program that is not only more intrusive than GG but also much stupider. All it does is check strings in the title bars of the programs you're running for words it doesn't like, e.g. "cheat" and "hack", and if it doesn't like one of those strings, it crashes psobb.exe and the program with the "offending" name. One of the most amusing stories from people who experienced it was that if you were to even listen to a song, such as Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats", antihack.dll will crash BB and your music player for that. Cheating defeated!

I believe antihack.dll might be a remaining file from an older install that they had that they forgot to change, makes no sense having it on and allowing cheating.

Bioware with Mass effect 3 faced a problem, online players where using a changed file that is used to keep everyone in synch during multiplayer matches, so cheats with instakills, more exp and infinite ammo appeared, causing everyone in the party to be banned because the file is shared from the host to all the clients in that game session.
This file was also used for offline/singleplayer changes, like more emissive colors and armor tweaks, however and despite telling users with changes that affect singleplayer wouldn't be a banable offense, bioware was unable to detect if the file change was for offline or online, so they went with the cannon ball aproach and banned all users with the file change.

antihack.dll seems to be like that, it can't pinpoint exactly what the user is doing so it closes and shutsdown applications that may seem suspicious, obviously some players are ok with it while others can't multitask at all, they open up the forum to check a trade and everything closes down.

It also makes no sense doing TA or events, because you never know how was that achieved.
Let's be honest, one important core of players playing the game are the oldest players, no server can sustain a population with players that are in a large majority newbies, they play for 2 or 3 weeks and they are done.

Events and leaderboards are nice right? But who among the older players will even do that when cheating is allowed.

I guess schthack is trying to do something different, i just don't know how much tought was placed into it.

Friend asked Christian about AntiHack.dll and he confirmed it was staying (although this hasn't been said publicly, so take this with a grain of salt honestly).

The online.exe still updates AntiHack.dll and you're unable to get through to the login server if antihack.dll isn't injected into the client (will freeze after the patch server and give you 903).

PS: Man, Kireek's post made me realise that they can't really do any sort of events because it'll just be "cheaters" (for lack of a better term) who run the show. Even things like Maximum Attack are simply not going to work because people can just fastkill for kills, meaning legitimate players can hardly contribute to any enemy totals.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to mess around with the game or accelerate, but since you actually have the ability to force legitimacy on BB (so to speak) unlike the other versions, I'm surprised they're still not trying to do that since that is what the majority of the BB players want. Expecting the community to go by the honour system is not going to go down well, I'm sure.

Pretty sure Evilmag has at least one story about going to Serebii.net and having the whole thing collapse because antihack.dll doesn't like Pokemon Trainers.

Name recognition is the only thing that will bring people there. If anyone knew just how bad Chrono and Lee Trump were bad at leading ANYTHING, let alone the people they choose to be mods/GMs, they would proceed to puke and then run away from it like the fucking plague.

I remember trying to get Girth and somebody else (forgotwholol) as a GM back in the day before I tripped up and Lee basically denied it on the grounds of "I'm Lee and I don't like him!" (most of the kicker from this was that he wasn't a part of the staff yet but Ed decided on King because $$$)

I know Christian never really cared much about legitimacy aside from doing it to make sure BB worked properly, but the changes as a whole are still pretty strange. Good will never went far on Schthack - already tried half legit experiments during the BB 'beta' as well as on other platforms. You still had reports of people fucking around, so... yeah... weirds me out. It looks like Christian still tries to keep most people yards away from him but maybe he came out of the woodwork when a good chunk of the history disappeared.
