Curious to see if anyone can remember the first PSO character they ever made.

On version 1 Dreamcast, I had an Oran HUmar named Steel Blade. I was maybe eight years old and terrible at the game. I also didn't use the sliders right so his shoulders were pathetic. I remember hating how skinny that bastard was, lawl

Back in 2004 I think? My first character was made on the Gamecube. HUmar named Zack. I think I was like 11 years old. The game was introduced to me by a friend of a friend. I was staying the night at friends house, and another friend of his whom I never met before prior to that night, brought PSO over for the gamecube, and we spent all night playing it. Got my parents to pick up a copy for me on my birthday.

It felt like the game was huge, since like everyone in my neighborhood played it.

After my character was lost due to corruption of the save file, I stopped playing. Up until I found Schthack a bit later, back when they were still on V2, so I played there for a while.

I remember my first rare that dropped. Branch of Paku Paku. Saw the box and didn't know what the hell it was. Wasn't aware there were special weapons in the game, I thought the base stuff was it. After finding that, I started hunting the Musashi, and eventually got it.

Was a really cool experience, I miss getting excited over rares like that.

I like this topic idea!

My first PSO experience was on Gamecube with my best buddy back then, over 10 years ago. Offline only. I borrowed the game from another friend and well, he never got it back. We were hooked instantly. Splitscreen mode was amazing to us.

I was "The Darkness", a HUmar, and he was "Punisher", a RAmar, because of course we were. Our memory card corrupted somewhere in the... 40s, I think. We remade our characters afterwards - and corrupted again (all of this on an official Memory Card). I bought a 3rd party one and we finally were safe from corruption. Our last offline chars were FOnewm and HUcast and we "kicked some ass" (in hindsight we were extremely terrible, of course). Our first rare ever, a DB's Saber, blew our minds. I remember running around with 3 Angel/Luck equipped believing that it would make it easier for us to find rares! Man, what a time.

We later migrated to SCHThack, but he eventually quit. I didn't, but my characters were lost in the data loss dilemma, and now I'm here.

My very first was on GC. My best friend brought over his copy of the game and had me try it out. He and his brother had played it on DC long before, though. I created a Bluefull HUmar named "Lance", your typical Cloud look-alike. After defeating the Dragon he had to leave though (we were about 12yo at the time). But it was enough to get me to go out and buy the game myself. Sadly, him and I never played together after that. I was always stuck with the offline experience until coming here to Ephinea just a few months ago.
 
A Skyly HUmar on the original Dreamcast version, starting sometime in the summer of 2001. I played that character until PSOBB came along, since I didn't own an Xbox until after its release (and thus missed out on the GC/Xbox versions of PSO.)

The passage of time is mad scary, yo. It doesn't feel like *that* long ago!
 
Don't remember my first, that was on PC/DC, but like, the furthest I had ever gotten in this game was on a lvl 128 Skyly HUmar named Fate, on Gamecube

Had like,a brightness circle, tripolic shield, ancient saber, Angel Mag.
 
Hahaaa love this. I was at my first duty station in '02 when a dorm mate said I should try this game on GC. I was hooked on FFT at the time. We shared an account but soon I moved off base and he kept kicking me off the game logging on. I was like FML this guy, don't you work nights? xD

Anyway, my first character was a RAcl, Lola (Redria) I used the costume that's white and blue, with a little yellow. Prob played until lvl 140's. Duping was getting way out of control. I used some dupes and got super burned out on the game, and quit. The hunt really is everything.

This story may have had a sad ending, but i'll always remember the fun times I had on the GC live servers.
 
GameCube offline in 7th grade. A HUmar that was quickly backseated by my RAmar. My greatest accomplishment was successfully hunting a Yas 9K. I plan to hunt one on Ephinea out of nostalgia.

I also piped mercilessly. After a particularly long piping session without much success, I finally got a Mil Lily. I died to it, rage quit, and never came back to the game (until now!).

You can also hunt a Yas 9k in Ep4. I came across one in a Chill n' Kill game. You always find the things you're not looking for in PSO..
 
My 1st ever was a HUmar on PSOPC. I would run around with a spread needle stealing other HUmars spread needles as they died. Good times (I always gave them the weapons back because that's how I rolled). I had around 20 other characters just because there were slots available and I was one of those fools who would have so many lvl 20 characters and do nothing but remake them.

Then when I got into BB I made a FOnewm, I was their using Soul Eater on hard mobs instead of techs before VH was released! Then I also made a HUcast and mained these two classes through official + Schthack. I was mostly Melee on my newm rather than teching unless I was soloing E4 or w/e.

Took a step in a different direction when Ultima was released and made a RAcast/HUmar but I got bored after a week or two (this was when it was released and I was still on Schthack, so moving was undesirable; because of gear and friends etc.)

So when a friend actually got me to log back into Ultima around Dec 2015, I was in the lobby for 5 mins and I heard about Schthack dying and about Ephinea; how it had ''cmoders'', was a new community etc, so I jumped ship that day. I came Ephinea and I tried to pick up what I had attempted on Ultima, to pick up new classes; and here we are.
 
My first character ever was a RAcast named Evil on PSOGC. He was viridia I think. I got this character to ~120 before our memory card corrupted. Good memories of me and my dad playing 2p offline back in the day come to mind.

Running and shooting at the same time has to be handled correctly. There are 3rd person shooters where the characters torso, head and arms are aiming forwards while their waist and legs are 90 degrees to the side, running at top speed. It looks and feels so unnatural lol Edit: Or I should say there are 1st person shooters that paints that image in my head because of how they aim in front of them and run sideways and it doesn't feel/look right. Look at the spartan's legs in Halo while running sideways lol
 
Mew's First official Dreamcast online character was an Amazon of a HUney named Sithikat. Gameshark pretty much ruined her offline....stoopid 200lvl hack...After losing THREE of her to a bad Dreamcast pad wire wiping out all her data...not to mention Nephew sneaking into mews room and stealing her PSO VMU and DELETING YEARS of PSO data...Sithikat kept making cameos for 15+ years and on SCHT. Havent recreated her since Mewplushie has filled her boots nicely <3.

I tried to get my mom to play when I was a kid. She was looking for a PC game to play. She zoned into forest, and got the shit beaten out of her, and didn't touch it again.
