Ship Select: Tab key does nothing

Wow, that's totally lame. I always wondered why Sega forced you to slog through the Government "quests" to unlock areas (considering the offline pillar requirement was already disliked enough on its own), but I thought it was only required to have the free areas open at the start. Forcing you to do the Government "quests" to access Cave at all is ridiculous, especially when you could still load a regular Cave quest.

No wonder Sega opened everything from the start later on. That was a terrible way to handle area progression.

They actually learned their lesson with PSOGC, as you could activate the pillars the first time you went through areas, simply making Episode 1 on GC a Forest to Falz with no repeating. Wasn't like this on V2 though, had to repeat the first three areas after clearing Mines. >_>

Makes me wonder why they made such a silly system in BB though. It was much nicer to just do each area once and then do whatever you wanted.

I wonder if I should add this... It would be an easy thing to do. But, since they removed it anyway...

I'm going to play with it today on my test ship anyway, for kicks.
 
i still remember these days when we needed to clear all principal/lab quests before accessing next difficulty XD

im pretty sure sega removed these restriction before 2006
maybe that was also when sega unlocked all areas to all players
 
Hey, in regards to the experience loss on death, do you know if experience goes underneath the minimum required exp for the current level?

Example (these are random numbers)

If you're at level x and it needed AT LEAST 200000 total experience over the life of your character to get to level x, if you level down while near the minimum exp for that level, would it ever go before that? Or is that also a limit to never go underneath that amount of exp?

it should be min(100k, (current exp - exp req of current lv) * 20%or10%)
and it would not go underneath exp req of current lv after exp loss iirc
also there was a rumor that you won't lose exp if revived by mag's special
 
So, current exp, and not current exp needed for this level...

So, if you have 9000 exp and to hit the next level, you have to have 9100 exp... if you die, you'd only lose 20 exp? But if you're 8000 exp and next level total exp needs to be 9100, you'd lose 220 exp? Just making sure I got it right. So you lose MORE, if you're further away from your next level? That's weird...
 
for example:
current lv is 20 (lv20 req 20,539, lv21 req 23,644)
current exp 21,000
(21,000 - 20,539) * 0.2 = 92.2 if dead and return to pioneer2
(21,000 - 20,539) * 0.1 = 46.1 if dead and revived by moons, dolls, or reverser
 
OK, so the penalty gets worse the closer you are to leveling up. Interesting. Alright, was just trying to be clear about it. Thanks, man!

My guess is that the repetition in Ver.1/2 is to compensate for the lack of Episode II. You can actually progress quite nicely in GC by doing Forest -> Temple -> Cave -> Spaceship -> Mine -> CCA -> Ruins -> Seabed, but if you just do one run of Forest, Cave, and Mine on Ver.2, you won't be ready for Ruins at all, so they probably forced you to repeat the first three so that you'd stand a chance against Dark Falz. It's quite tedious if you've been playing online and just want to clear the areas offline to have everything unlocked, though. :p

「難易度ノーマルのラボクエストを全てクリア」 clear lab quests in normal difficulty (to access next difficulty)
these lines were removed in the latter page
i think that was when sega decided to remove the requirement of clearing principal/lab quests first to access next difficulty, as well as unlock all ep1/ep2 areas for all players
it was for the 1st anniversary of psobb's release, see 1 and 2
エピソード4の場合、難易度ごとの総督府クエスト進行状況に応じて、通常冒険の移動可能エリアが増えていきます。
tho you still needed to clear principal's quests to unlock areas for ep4 at that moment
 
Not really a bug report but I didn't think this warranted another thread. Just for convenience, would it be possible to add the city of the server in the tab box as well?
