I received this error after clicking start game in the launcher. I've been playing the game fine for a week now.

Turn off UAC(user access control) completely. this is an error I get often when I swapped to something that asks for control or even just locking my computer for a moment to leave my desk.

Google how to turn off UAC. hopefully this is the issue. also run as administrator

that happens to me quite a lot when I either alt tab or when the screen of my laptop shuts off for any reason.

It worked thank you so much!!!$$

How do you personally fix it when it happens?
It doesn't really have a fix, it just happens and you gotta start the game again... shitty coding from sega, well... to be fair the game was made for XP and UAC didn't exist by then.

To avoid it, as suggested, disable UAC (do not dim the desktop)... also you can NOT play in classic full screen... use virtual fullscreen or windowed.

Ok so t happened again. Do I just keep reopening untill it works? I disabled UAC

Err... if you disabled UAC log off and on again.
After that, it should not dim the desktop and leave the game alone.

Do you have firefox running in the background?
PSO doesn't like when it loses focus, and for some reason firefox like's to do just that :p
I'm looking for a way to fix it as I prefer firefox, but I haven't found anything yet.

It could also be another program you have running. Just keep an eye out.
