Hello Hunters!

We hope you all enjoyed the anniversary event that came to an end a few weeks ago. We hoped you achieved your goals, whether that's levelling up your characters, finding the rare items of your dreams, or simply just having a good time with fellow players.

We'd like to inform you that future anniversary events will be changing, and in the interest of transparency, we would like to let you know what that will look like. We are aware that many players plan their play time around the anniversary event and how it can be approached, so to avoid a shock next year, please read the below.
  • The Maximum Attack E event series of quests are being removed. The versions that are available all year round will still be available. August Atrocity will also remain available during the event.
  • Anniversary Badges will no longer be obtainable. This means that the badges currently held by players are all that there will ever be; be sure to spend them! The badge exchange quest will remain up even after the next anniversary event, so there is no rush to spend them right now.
With respect to the above, the two following changes will be made for the anniversary event.

New quest series

A new quest series will be created for anniversary events going forward, as we believe that Maximum Attack E has lived in the spotlight for too long. After 9 years, it's time for something new!

Please be aware that these quests will all have similar difficulty, meaning that there will not be an option to simply play the easiest area in the game for full event rewards. We would like to encourage players to level up and find stronger weapons to be able to tackle the event content! In other words, there will not be a quest entirely in Forest.

New event currency

We will be replacing anniversary badges with anniversary tokens. These will function differently to the current badges.

Instead of 'ranked' currency (bronze, silver, gold), each of the featured event quests will reward their own token upon completion (for example, one quest gives Red tokens, another gives Blue tokens, and so on). To purchase items in the anniversary shop, it will be necessary to amass all types of tokens, meaning that all the event quests must be played if you wish to make use of the anniversary shop. For example, an item ticket may cost 2 red tokens and 2 blue tokens, while an addslot may cost 1 green token, and a photon sphere may cost 70 of every token colour.

These tokens will be tradeable, so you do not have to play every single quest in the event if you do not wish to, as you will be able to trade the tokens you gain from your favourite quests for other ones. Please note that the token numbers and names are not finalised, and are simply used as an illustrative example.

There will still be an equivalent to the Anniversary Platinum Badge.

All the other features of the anniversary event will remain, such as the milestone system and extra boosts that players can earn.

Note that things are subject to change, but the removal of Maximum Attack E and Anniversary Badges are not subject to change.

  • Maximum Attack E

This is honestly the best way the changes could have gone I feel.
I'm also happy new quests are in the mix and I hope this freshens up the event in the years to come.

Thanks as always to you guys for providing me with infinite joy and playtime.

The longer MAE quests that are available year-round are masterpieces, so thank you for not removing those. Looking forward to new changes!

Also, as far as a "platinum badge equivalent," I think you should just continue to call it the Anniversary Platinum Badge. It is historically endearing and, if it's going to do the same thing as before, there's no need to rename it. (This way, a small part of the old event style lives on.)

i agree with the plat badge take

MaE:GG:Infinite

It's just gal gryffon and it keeps coming back until you die and spawns one more simultaneous gal gryffon every wave. And after a few waves epsilons and mericarols start spawning all over the arena

I just wonder, how quest makers (mostly ender i guess?) will achieve equal difficulty on all quests and if they include bosses as well. Let 'em cook.
True, adding some bosses to the mix could make for some really fun quests and hunts. Especially if they put the boss outside their arena, like sil dragon in waterfall caves room lmao

I had a suggestion about naming the tokens!
Saw in the discord that people were giving examples like NPCs, spells and stuff.
Those are good too, but I feel like those are already very prevalent in PSO and making the token names unique, while still keeping them part of the PS universe would be a better idea.

So how about naming them after planets and systems of the original 4 PS games?

Algol Token
Palma Token
Motavia Token
Dezoris Token
Climatrol Token
Rykros Token
Alisa III Token

If those aren't enough you could pick planets from PSO, PSU, PSZ and PSP.

Ragol Token
Coral Token
Parum Token
etc. etc.

who would have thought a somewhat broken quest would be more fun than the non-event quests?

sarcasm aside stop hating on lost shock rilfe and ma2

The difficulty of creating quests is beyond my imagination.
I hope they don't end up being boring because they're too focused on "similar difficulty"...
The MAE Mine, Crater, and Desert were my favorites, both in terms of rewards and how fun they were to play.
I'll miss being able to play these with the gear I collected myself, but I'm looking forward to the new quests.

Reminds me of my old section id badges idea, neat. Regardless though this is a decent solution to the single quest spam that went on. I'll miss the event mae's but it had to be done. A new line of quests will be nice and hopefully, matt puts his supervisory touch into em lol. The MAE's were good because of him.

Thank you for keeping the current MAE that we have year round. Some of the best designed quests and are great to run when RBR isn't too enticing. I can normally always get a room filled fairly quickly hosting pubs. MAE4 and GDV.. my beloved.

I wish you the best of luck designing the next set of event series quests, sounds like quite the undertaking. With the way the devs/mods have been running the server over the years, I'm sure you'll nail it.

I'll piggyback on what Greenmaker said, I can appreciate the teams efforts to create content that suits to the current values of players on the server.

Also agreeing with Ade, I'd just keep the platinum badge the way it is, especially if there a no plans to change the overall mechanics.
