Regarding enemy spawn invinciblity in Ep. 1

I know stacking Gifoie in multi-wave rooms has always been a quick way to destroy weaker enemies in Ep. IV, but I have a memory of this not, or not always working in Ep. I, specifically a memory of Gifoie doing 0 against newly spawned Vulmers in Caves.

However, when I tried it just now it worked fine. Is there some reason I remember this differently or is it just the Mandela effect?
 
Vulmers definitely have invincibility frames, so you shouldn't be doing damage to them when spawning. If you're able to reproduce this, could you show it happening?

There are still many enemies in Episode 1 worth using Gifoie on though, off the top of my head:

- Gulgus (and Gulgus-gue to an extent)
- Mothvist / Mothvert
- El Rappy
- Ob Lily (this is hit and miss, I'd only do this if you have no other options)
- Pofuilly Slime (solo primarily, 2 gifoies will KO them)
- Canabin
- Sinow Blue
 
Ahh, OK. I think what happened this time is that they had already spawned shortly out of range of the gifoie then walked into one or two waves of it.
