Missing Lobby Design?

Recently created an account since this server looks super great and I am totally down for a recreation of the vanilla PSOBB experience - but with that in mind, I was wondering why this server appears to be missing the wide open, silver coloured lobby with the tables and jukebox (I never played Ep III online but friends told me it was a recreation of the lobby from that game). In its place is just a recolour of the Dreamcast lobby.

Curious to know if there's a reason this design is missing, since it was my personal favourite and I definitely remember it being in vanilla PSOBB back in the day (along with the casino dreamcast lobby but I never used that so whatever).

To the best of my knowledge, that particular lobby theme was created by SCHTHack (and Lee to a degree too) and so I'd imagine that's why it's not been here from the start - it was a thing primarily for use on SCHTServ it seems. The recolour of the Dreamcast lobby is what is available by default, not the Episode III lobby.

It is absolutely gorgeous though!

Lol, you must have never really played PSOBB.

Both of the lobbies you mentioned were never in the official PSOBB.

Schthack ported both the Morgue and the lobby from Episode III, but I think the Morgue skin eventually got reverted, while the lobby design stayed in the SCHTServ client.

Wow it wasn't in the vanilla game? Man I REALLY vividly remember being excited to see that lobby again when I played SCHThack for the first time (since my only access to PSO since the official server days had been PSO Ep I & II offline mode on Gamecube). I guess it was a while back now that I first discovered Schthack, my memory must be failing me.

Oh well, it will be missed, such a lovely hang-out place (my friends and I would always go there after quests to hang out and chat at the tables all polite-like). I hope it will be considered to be put into this version since stuff like lobbies don't affect the gameplay at all and there's no other way to experience it with Ep III being such an obscure and not-worth-the-effort title when it comes to restoring online functionality like with Blue Burst. But I understand if not.

SCHTServ wasn't a pure "vanilla" experience nor the official one, and those facts on their own don't matter but they likely contributed to an element of mis-communication above when clarifying where the lobby was seen. It definitely was on SCHT - your memory isn't failing you yet!

You can add the Episode 3 lobby if you like. I have it on my client and while you might go out of bounds in Lobby 12 to other players, it shouldn't really matter. Lobby warps will be slightly off centre too but who cares...

Here it is.

Oh wow, fantastic, I never imagined it being such a simple mod as replacing a map file. (And I assume by the fact that you posted it so publicly that this is considered an aesthetic modification entirely and not cheating). The Dreamcast lobbies were empty whenever I played so far so hopefully it shouldn't confuse too many people.

Thank you!

I'm guessing my confusion must have come from the fact that my best friend on official PSOBB was the one who told me that "Lobby 12" was the lobby from Ep III. He VERY BRIEFLY showed up in my life again on Schthack so it must have been then that he told me that, not during the vanilla days. So strange though that I never had a "oh I don't remember THIS!" moment when I first saw the lobby in schthack then.

As you might be able to tell lobbies are important to me. =U I really missed them in offline Gamecube PSO and I am so... so glad to see them all beautiful again here without random obnoxious cat pictures littered around... lol.

Just be aware that other people may see you walking through walls when you're using a different lobby than they are, so you'll need to tell them that you're using the Episode III lobby design and not cheating.

Ah, sure thing, will try to stay aware of whether anyone's around then if I am hanging out there at all.

If you use the EP3 lobby in lobby 12 like it was designed there is no walk through walls appearance if I remember correctly.

IIRC the Episode III design is similar to the DC design, so it wouldn't be as bad as if you replaced one of the first ten lobbies, but you'll still probably have some glitches nonetheless. It wouldn't have caused any glitches on SCHT, as the patch server probably forced everybody to replace Lobby 12 with the Episode III design.

I assumed with how diligent he's been with replying to threads around here that concern him that he would have said by now if there was an issue with using such a mod, so I certainly do invite him or another staffer to say if it could create issues with any auto-detection stuff regarding cheating. D= I'm really digging this server and it's vanilla values so I certainly wouldn't wanna cause a fuss lol.
