Im returning after a few years and seeing that damage cancel has now been removed. So my 15+ years of playing has been shaken up a tiny bit, of course i understand Forces will still be expected to S&D and J&Z (Jelly depending) with healing mixed in. But what is now expected for damage of Forces? Do we spam Rabarta and Gifoie?

Maybe its just team depending but just want a what is expected of FO in general play, instead of trying to learn on the fly.

Guess im asking "do A B C is standard. But X Y Z is going extra mile"

Thank you in advance :3 Have been kinda nervous to jump back in with parties without asking first XD (silly i know. But i just want to do things correct :3)

As you said, S/D/J/Z is a must at all levels, Resta in between for those parties that need it or the individuals that want it.
Contrary to popular belief, it is actually not always beneficial to be spamming Gifoie on enemies in parties, despite that being the bulk of the behaviors from less informed forces. As a force, you should probably always have some sort of weaponry that assist your team (Demons, hell, etc) but if you don't, learning when the right times are to cast spells and what each enemy is weak to is important.

There are times and places where casting attack techniques are useful, just not at all times.

The removal of DMC has definitely influenced forces to just turn their brains off and spam techniques forever and do nothing else; I pray that forces as a whole move beyond the "I'll press gifoie over and over and maybe i'll buff my team" mentality that the DMC patch has promoted over the months.

If you take away anything, please always make sure to buff your team and debuff enemies. Even something as Jellen is very useful, especially to low level characters, it allows them to bypass certain DFP thresholds for attacks and not become knocked down as a result of the less damage they took, which turns attacks that cause issues with using traps since you've been knocked down, into a breeze.

Depends on the force and the episode but in general you are expected to contribute to damage either via techniques or weapon specials in every episode. The class guides on the wiki should give you a good idea of what weapons to choose. Slicer of fanatic is a great choice for every FO to spread unreduced demons via accuracy glitching in areas where techniques aren't very powerful.

It's muscle memory for any FO worth their salt to immediate J/Z With each mob spawn between waves. For mew RAbarta casting is a benefit for any droids in the party! Why spend a freeze trap when everything/most of mobs are already frozen solid and slowing the chaotic pace? Before SHARED EXP was a thing, mew would habitually freeze everything to allow others to tag them all for exp! That habit carried over and of course Level 30 Gifoie has its perks of AOE damage and a sort of stun effect when hit.

And don't your mew started what happens when a Zealous party finds out what a Marina's Bag is capable of! EVERYONE Whips out their ZERK toys and just go HAM on EVERYTHING! It's controlled CHAOS and CARNAGE!!!

Let mew know if your FOney is missing a Marina's bag!!! <3!!

Nothing much has changed, though sometimes you'll just have to be faster now if you wanna actually assist with HITTING things, so mob spawn memorization is much more important now. With well geared rangers now you don't get to touch ep1 mobs anymore, unless you choose not to zalure, because in that casting timeframe they'll be dead. Mobs just melt too fast now. I think that's one reason (and ep4 being braindead now) why FO's have "turned off their brains" like Varista suggested. It's moreso they're just able to play the game now without worrying they're hindering someone else's fun.
