HUnewearl trying to feel useful to the party

So I'm still pretty new to the PSO on the Ephinea servers (grew up with it on GC), only about a weak or 2 in but been playing it so much that I managed to reach Lv109. My thing is that it feels like I miss A LOT when I'm trying to help kill enemies, so much so that it feels like I'm dragging the team down. I do make sure to cast Shifta/Deband and Jellen/Zalure if there isn't a Force or someone with a higher tech level then me.

Just trying not to drag the team down. I know HUnewearl is more rounded out so they are more jack of all trades and don't super excel in certain aspects which I'm fine with. Don't need to be the absolute best, just useful! Any suggestions that can be given? I'm still leveling up my mag (messed up first one). Lvl 109 Rati 5/54/50/0. I was originally going to go all in on POW after it evolved into Rati but I noticed the wiki showing max stats would have the mag at 5/95/100/0 or 5/92/103/0 depending on the gear. Is having higher Dex going to make me miss less? Wouldn't I be screwed over having my POW at only 95 or 92?

LEVEL 20 Shifta/Deband/Jellen/Zalure!!!! Keep level 20 Resta and ANTI 7 Handy and easy access at all times! FOrces are great and all, but a lot of good that does the party if they're Flat on their asses! HUneys will often have a better chance of keeping their feet under them when the blood starts spraying! POW at only 92-95 seems a tad 'low' but still able to whittle away at mobs and bosses while the Heavy hitters mop up~! Keep the Faith! I choose (1).jpg

Those are the stats I saw on the wiki but if you have a good suggestion for some stats on the mag I'd love to hear them!

In case you haven't seen it, the wiki in general is extremely good, and I think you'll find its HUnewearl/Guide in particular helpful.

Yes, HUnewearl has bad stat growth and needs a Mag with a lot of DEX. But I would encourage you to keep at it. What you may miss out on by falling short of a few 1CKs is more than made up for in versatility and having a reason to play more creatively.

Ephinea has some fun rotating weekly incentives, and they're lined up nicely right now for spamming WoL4 Fo+DP on Anguish mode. If you want to try something a little less conventional, I wrote my FAUXnewearl post about approaching this playstyle as a HUnewearl with an open mind. I think it would be fun to get a group together and try it. Just note that that some of the player base here are very time attack/efficiency oriented, and may not be super receptive to this.

I'll keep at it for sure!

DEX on your mag will definitely help with hitting enemies. Also get a heavenly/arm or adept (or both!) to raise your attack accuracy as well. Personally as long as you are casting techs, swinging/shooting your weapon, and distracting enemies you are being useful and a great addition to any team. For the most part I love the PSO community but the stuck up attitude on using "the most efficient" gear or strategies is bothersome at times. This isn't the olympics or some kind of competition, it is a game played for fun. One of the best aspects of PSO is the fact there are so many ways to play with so many goofy weapons and strategies. I probably play my FOmarl more like a hunter while I see so many hunters playing more like rangers, lol. It probably bothers some people but I have fun and I let them have their fun.

That reminds me, I still have a HUney to level up. The hunter I've used the longest is the HUcassie and after using a HUney for a bit, it feels like it comes down having insta-freezy traps vs. lv20 Rabarta both of which are good freezing options after you snag certain end-game gear.

Don't slouch on your techs.

Use the fact that you have techs to your advantage. If you feel like you are constantly missing, try tossing out the occasional Rafoie or Razonde. a Rabarta here and there for the slim freeze chance can also be helpful.

It's all about balancing out what you are doing and seeing what works and when.

It's OK if your MAG is higher ATA or higher POW on the HUnewearl. If it's higher POW, you can have HIT on weapons and HIT UNITS that make a lot of difference. If you have high HIT on MAG, you can use utility UNITS and more weapon specials and/or heavy attacks. Heavy attacks in particular scale Very well on machine gun type weapons. A V801 could be a long-term target item as well to heal up allies faster and safer (+40% cast speed). You can trade for it on the discord I think, but also enter lobbies with the right Section ID by pressing TAB over their "game" in the lobby menus iirc.

If you're struggling, it can also be that you need the attack speed boost unit of the highest level as you get deep into Ultimate (assuming you don't already have it). It helps you full-combo more enemy types without being interrupted early in melee range. Just use more "Normal" hits and less heavy and no specials at direct melee usually (especially for accuracy's sake). This can pull a lot of aggro sometimes and make ranged characters easier to play for your allies (which can lead to more cc that makes it easier for you in turn). The fact you can self-heal makes it better too at taking weight off your ranged allies.
You'll get hit a lot but it's worth it to not let the enemies exist. Some enemies just use a ranged weapon or offensive tech for fracks sake.

Units, MAGs and Materials all give base stats that can't improve past your class maximum (before level 190~+ it won't really matter too badly). This makes it slightly better to get POW on MAG and HIT on UNITS since the ATP UNITS aren't very good at half value compared to the MAG. But this isn't as important as there isn't a ATA Material at all, so you'd just jam every ATP Material into your character anyways which is a lot of stats towards the maximum anyways. In any case, you like to get like good DEX/ATA on MAG, and then max out your POW after or around your third, fourth or CELL MAG evolution that you will end on I guess. But it's easier to fight the enemies so long as you are patient to pick up a good HIT weapon like a machine gun type maybe, and aren't under-leveled. Remember that all classes like to use guns sometimes, especially with hit and maybe a special. HUnters do this a lot when I play with higher level players.

Hunewearls have a difference of 52 ATA between their level 200 base, and their level 200 maximum, so the MAG can't be overkill unless it's 104 DEX, which is a soft-cap for the character that matters only as you fully approach the full level 200 omega grind that most veterans avoid typically, just to be fair.

To add to the Dex conundrum, if you are a heavy user of slivers and guns, smartlink is a MUST!
