Sky Blue Mag?

How do I get a Sky Blue baby Mag? Every guide I've followed doesn't seem to work. I keep getting Brown.

UPDATE: HUcaseal: Row 1 - Costume 8, got me a Sky Blue.

Sky blue, brown, pink and some ugly viridia looking green are all random character mag colours. You cannot make one for them.

So you have to keep remaking a costume that chooses random. If your getting brown, then that costume is one that is random. Keep trying.

That's not true on Ephinea anymore. "Random" isn't a thing. All costumes are preset.

not sure where it's documented but yeah he's right, was just a certain costume for my sky blues. i think soly might have had a spreadsheet somewhere or something. there was a formula where you just added the costume number up to get each color, ill see if i can find it

edit: pretty sure the numbers under soly's mini guide to mag color is what you're looking for.

if color > 18
{
color -= 17
}

01 Red 02 Blue 03 Yellow 04 Bright Green 05 Purple 06 Black 07 White 08 Cyan 09 Brown 10 Orange 11 Light Blue 12 Gold 13 Mint Green 14 Fuschia 15 Grey 16 Cream 17 Pink 18 Dark Green

I hope everyone understands that, if not... the number of your dressing thingy (Count the spaces from the first row until you reach the color or dressing you selected)

if the number exceeds 18, get out 17 of it

^ direct quote + credit to soly, obviously ^^

think that holds here? short of it is that 8 and 9 are generally the "random ones"

@Spuz As Jeff said, it actually has never been random since (I'd say) way too long ago, maybe ever... for the character creation, drops do have random color I think.
Maybe it was random in Sega's time and the lack of a color identifier in the 8 and 9 selectors was to reflect that but well.... You can still get all colors so there is no need for random... unless there are more colors?

@Eva In any case, this list should do
Code:
Cast    NoCast  Color

1-1     1-1     Red
1-2     1-2     Blue
1-3     1-3     Yellow

I think it was random early on in Ephinea because "muh vanilla" but then changed very soon because "that's a dumb mechanic, suck it up vanilla lovers"

I really don't feel like going through all the old announcements to find out though.

Fixed Mag colours upon character creation is an official Sega BB thing. They threw away the concept of costumes that generate random colours and instead assigned fixed colours to the costumes at the end of each row:

http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=2308

Mags drop with random colours because the new Mag code Sega introduced in GC no longer supports a colour of "unassigned". Mags drop with no colour at all on V2, and they are assigned a colour based upon the outfit of the first person to equip them. Once you equip an unassigned Mag, it gains the same colour as a starting Mag would get if you created a character with your current costume (including a random colour for the costume at the end of the row), and then its colour becomes permanent. As a result, you can find a baby Mag, bank it, use the Dressing Room, equip the Mag to get a specific colour, and then use the Dressing Room to restore your old outfit while keeping the Mag colour you wanted. Sega neglected to allocate a colour value to denote "unassigned" in the new GC Mag colour system, so Mags drop with random colours, instead.

Thought it would be good to reply here.

NOTE
Removed a lot of the reply since after finding the code in the client, it makes no sense to keep speculation based replies.

Here is a list of colors that the game will give you based on the selected outfit, if your mag has an invalid color.

Basically, there is a list of colors to use when the mag color is invalid (above 17, 0 based)
QCvj32K.jpg

Edit... I had forgotten but Qwerty had posted about this before.
So technically the colors the server does are actually wrong, there are no randoms but they shouldn't be the way they are (a costume gives the same color to every class).

Oh well.. now that I got it from the client's code, that's cool.
