Quick patch note 1.8.1

Beat me to it ^ Aside removal for preference. It's no more broken than having arrest on a needle, but simply gives new options to classes that have some struggles like noncast HU's. Giving classes that need options more of them is always a great thing.
 
It changes up fleshies just a tiny bit, so not really game breaking. Casts still get the bigger boost but I think it would be situational (for example: it will minimize the "brb need to refresh traps" moments when certain players run out of FTs).

Blizzard was never "broken". Prior to this change it acted just as it did on GC/Xbox, so no idea why the decision to "fix" it. But hey, not my server, I guess this is how people felt when changes started being made on SCHT (I don't think I was on SCHT before DF/Master Raven/LK38 unlock or the Force boosts).
 
If they quit it's their problem for misunderstanding then. Blizzard doesn't have some magical gamebreaking activation rate, it's the same as its always been with casts arresting things. It will still be nerfed on humans/newmans as well. If people wanna cry about it, cry that casts can freeze trap anything anytime they choose. It's simply bias if you complain about one and not the other. Blizzard has always been there, now it's simply being given a use.
 
Blizzard is a nice buff to fleshie characters and a novelty for casts. FT + Arrest (or just FT + kill) is far faster than whipping out your Blizzard Needle or Red Partisan or S-rank Slicer and being at the mercy of ATA for the last hit to connect + freeze, praying the Baranz doesn't kill you.

It adds fun toys like Yamato and Cudgel to HU lineups while also giving everyone a ghetto FS in Blizzard Raygun. Allowing the Force to try their hand at freezing things also boosts their support capabilities, and they can go for crowd freezing through S-rank Slicers. If nothing else, this is a very pleasant HUmar/HUnl buff.

Once the initial hype wears off everyone's going to go back to Arrest+Berserk Needles and only really HUs and FOs will be carrying Blizzard weapons.

You can't refresh the freeze while they are still frozen, correct?
Correct. You can apply Paralysis to them to extend the duration of Freeze, but in that time you're better off just killing them.
 
Lol Jeff, this community is very sensationalist. You just kinda gotta roll with it sometimes. I don't blame their concerns but they need to think logically about it, it's just another disabling special. It has its negative tradeoffs as well as perks. I do agree that with this change though, that the price may need a 10 PD increase. For what its worth, arrest/traps will still be better in a lot of cases.

Blizzard vs Arrest

Blizzard: lowers EVP by 30%, lasts 4 seconds, cannot be refreshed, works on machines.
Arrest: lowers EVP by 15%, lasts 6 seconds, can be refreshed client-side, does not work on machines.

Both have the same activation rate. I don't think there's any enemy that cannot be paralyzed by Arrest but can be frozen by Blizzard (excluding robots).

Letting HUmar have some reason over HUcast is good IMO. Now traps won't be an auto win for them lol.
 
Isn't CC one of the largest problems with the game overall, in terms of balance? Perhaps not allowing DARK monsters to be frozen is a cool idea. I'm all for changes, so long as they have a goal of removing abusive strategies, or imbalances. There will always be a meta, however, theres no need for a game like PSO to have such a strict one.l

PSO is over 15 years old and version 4 (Blue Burst) has been officially shut down for at least 8 years. There are plenty of servers that have made major changes but there are none that have stuck to Sega's iteration of the game before its time ended. I assume a lot of players chose this server because it was the only one that kept the gameplay mechanics as close as possible to the original but I could be wrong.
