I figured some of you might have gotten sword and/or sheild and want to find some casual buddies to play with or discuss the game with.

I still think no national dex = bad.

I love that corsola gets a useful evolution finally, which means it has eviolite fat

I kinda get peoples anger over the national dex, and I get that it's kinda laziness on gamefreaks part but people dont understand that the Natdex transfer system simply wont work with switch's hardware lol, The system/program or w/e they use isn't compatible. The nvidia APU and w/e architecture it uses is most likely too different. It's the same reason they couldn't bring the eshop over, and why porting WiiU games takes so long. I can gaurantee right now because the system spans compatibility over so many handhelds/games or w/e that its a mess of spaghetti code.

That said, even with all the stuff they stripped out I'll probably get it once the price drops or I catch a sale. It looks like a good casual pokemon, which suits me fine. I've never cared about the deeper competitive parts of pokemon, I just wanna make mons beat the crap outta eachother.

If it's too different, why are all the models of the returning Pokémon the same?

This is looking to be the first generation I've skipped since 5 (which was a mistake to skip, to be fair). Lot of missing content, technical issues, and all-around bad decisions from Game Freak on this one, most of which were probably made to rush the game out before the holidays. Yikes.

The natdex system isn't tied to char models lol, what gamefreak lazily ported in is just graphical models. Any object data/interaction functionality was redone for the new game im sure. I'm pretty sure they did the same porting for Let's go Eeevee/pikachu too? Though I could be wrong someone could correct me on that. Like fans pull models from games all the time now and inject them into other stuff, same concept.

It's mainly the functionality of the mons, the actual data of the pokemon themselves. All the moves, TM's, HM's, IV and nature garbage. The system of transfering and handling pokemon data through between each new game and handheld, the program or w/e they use itself wasn't made to function with the architecture/OS behind switch.

Pokemon home will look to remedy that. I honestly think DLC is in pokemon's future.

It's tedious, sure, but this is actually the easiest thing to recreate in Pokémon. It doesn't require any special architecture, and as Ala already said, any transfers could easily be done through Pokémon Home. The argument for competitiveness doesn't hold up well, either, since GF could easily just introduce a ban list for Pokémon and moves.

I honestly think DLC is in pokemon's future.
Which is worse: an inevitable shitty third version/followup à la USUM, or fucking Pokémon DLC?

We'll see lol, I can definitely see why they abandoned it. My theory mainly is simply put, its a old system that won't work well to continually keep building off of, especially being lazy as they are they probably have to keep going back and fixing their old broken bullcrap anytime they add something to it. They probably got sick of it simply put. Hopefully for the fanatic types they do work out something with Home whatever that is, I haven't looked into it. I don't think people shoulda gone full rtar mode and started threatening them over it though, that's some pure butthurt. Some of the stuff I got shown that ppl were saying to GF was outright disgraceful, they're acting worse than smash kids who dont get the person they wanted in Ultimate.

i feel like the game could've used more time in the oven

or better yet not divide your dev teams up into like 3 or 4 teams when you're a smaller company like gamefreak

I actually skipped D/P...well I've skipped most gens since Crystal a long time ago but still. I heard people like em so I'd give it a try.

im hoping to get a switch lite sometime in december hopefully but idk when i'll be able to get shield sadly

through a series of lucks, i have shield

less than 20 hours in though and i already have all 8 badges
