I was talking about this in lobby with a group of people and everyone seemed to think it was a good idea. now I know it might seem like it would deviate people from playing with others, but it's really for those dead times where you log on and none of your friends are online.

If you think about it really it'll keep those players online because they'd have SOLO-MODE to play in and do they're hunts in it.
Also a very fun place for TA.
Discuss.

I think this would be really fun as long as you nerf the DAR to like 50% or something.
Possibly nerfed xp too.
I can see it being a fun option when playing alone and not game-breaking as long as it's balanced.

as long as stuff like max attack fiasco etc aren't allowed in it'd probably be fine? i can understand hesitation on doing it though, we were really really spoiled by scht's broken quest list letting us do this for years

the main problem is just that a lot of quests for hunting specific enemies are just multimode quests and those are pretty damn rude, but another solution is we just get good

it'd be really nice and polite to see but i highly doubt it'll happen tbh

Not a fan of the idea, but that's because I can't stand solo mode. Boring as shit.

people would say solo mode is better i guess but keep in mind that there's an exp penalty when you play solo mode, you don't get the same exp in multi mode.
as for rares. I'd say cut it down to what a 4p party in pso2 mode gets. 67% DAR. sounds fair to me.

Despite playing solo mode a lot, I'm also kind of against the idea. At least, I'm happy with the quests already provided. If we make certain quests (TTF, RT) too spammable in 1play mode, RR and PGF wouldnt really be premium items to hunt. Bosses are too easy in 1play mode compared to multi. However, I guess it is a good way to show the quest outline for people who are not used to or new to certain quests. If it does happen, I think DAR for those quests should be slashed significantly.

it would be nice to have at least a couple of quests in solo per ep
something that you dont have to sit through 400 lines of dialogue, that are unlocked for everyone, and don't have some npc following you killing the flow and stopping you with text boxes

when on HC you really don't always have people online, can go hours being the only HC player online, shit is zzz

The only reason most people want multiplayer quests in solo mode is so that they can hunt items from the easier enemies, so if you reduce the drop rates to compensate for that, you'll eliminate the benefit of hunting in solo mode, and then nobody will use it. Thus, it makes more sense to do nothing, since the net result is the same either way. :p It's amazing how much damage SCHTServ did to people's expectations of solo mode by letting you exploit it for easier hunting for so many years.

I rather it stay the same. If I understand right this will make hunting easier and I like the way the game is atm. Plus I like solo mode when I prefer soloing while hunting for stuff.

i think switching the offline quests in ep1 from being gov unlocked to being how gamecube was where the later quests are unlocked by playing all the story quests in order or w/e would be a nice change
i know there would be a lot less incentive to play gov, but gov quests are pretty limiting as far as group play, each player needing to have done all them in order to be able to play with others
makes finding groups willing to help you do some of the stages unreasonably obnoxious, but doing them solo can be difficult for a weak/poor char
the ruins gov quests should be incentive enough, 4-2 n 4-4 are some of my fav quests

only addresses ep1 tho

I don't remember GC/Xbox being unlocked without beating them first. It's been about 10 years since I last played on those version though, so I'm not sure.

in gc you had to choose single player to play offline, thats what im talking about
i never played online GC but i did get to play all the story quests ep1

just had to play whatever quests they gave and once they were done you got more
once beat all then they were all unlocked perma etc
just removes gov quests from equation

You had to unlock the areas in GC/Xbox -- it's the same in BB, you just had to do the government quests to unlock the areas, so they tied the quests to government quests.

bb you have to play multi to unlock vs GC could unlock solo
the time to play the story quests is usually for low levels to gain some exp/stuff

maybe give ep1 n ep2 the LOST quests and ep4 the WOL quests ?

being able to do gov quests in solo would be nice if possible and if it doesnt make the game explode

In offline mode, every time you beat a certain batch of quests, you gain access to the next tier of quests, which PSO-W lists in its quest tiers and access system guide. The only restriction is that you must unlock the freeplay area in order to unlock the quests in that area, e.g. if you haven't beaten the Dragon and unlocked Cave 1, you can't play any of the Cave quests. In order to unlock freeplay Ruins and gain access to the Ruins quests, you must press the pillars in Forest 2, Cave 2, and Mine 2 to unlock the Ruins seal after beating Vol Opt.

i know there would be a lot less incentive to play gov
I wouldn't call that a bad thing, as 90% of the government "quests" are not quests at all. Sega copied and pasted the freeplay maps into quests and then forced you to play them in order to give the illusion that PSO's story has some bearing on the gameplay. Most of the government quests are a waste of space, especially now that Ephinea's map files are modified to make the multiplayer door buttons stay down, thus eliminating the one thing the government quests brought to the table (the ability to play the multiplayer freeplay maps solo).

i like a couple of the ruins gov quests

perhaps just ditch the needing gov quests all together and unlock them all?
then give the single player quests the GC treatment

I think adding LOST/WoL series of quests for solo is not bad. It still makes you travel all the way to the boss and the puzzles in some of them can be really annoying.
I think govt quests unlocking should stay though or else it's spoiling new players with instant benefits like converting enemy parts and adding hit %.
