So Im DABbling with the idea of a fomar...

Id like the idea of a huney but jus dont wanna rock those short shorts ;P so thats whats got me on the idea of maybe using a fomar 2 get my huney fix. Im aware of the massive limits fomar will have on weps aswell as that gawd awful ata...

So guess what im asking anyone with 180+ fomar exp care 2 talk about em and or provide ur dream equip list for one

Pit had a guide somewhere, I dont know how actually useful it is considering he liked to intentionally limit himself. You could at least give it a look-see.

If I may ask, why do you care about your character wearing shorts?
 
I simply do not like the look of a huney, was jus puttin a funny playful spin on it instead of jus bein blunt in saying Mi No Like YO Face
 
And I have been interested in fomar mechanics for quite some time, Ive always enjoyed supporting a group but I dont wanna sacrifice so much that supporting is the only thing I can do.
 
honestly i dont blame you for not wanting to roll a hunl, people are fucking weird here and will desperately attempt to initiate erp for some reason

heres shit i remember using, ymmv:
asteron (hit)
- it's not as good as every parasol in the game but it's a beatstick that looks kinda cool and that's what counts. please don't use the special

50h double saber
- you may as well. substitute in a hit girasole if you got one from easter

excal (hit if you want to zerk shit)
- you can kinda nnh with it without hit but youll want hit otherwise. this is the main draw to playing fomar instead of foney. probably.

some form of sacrificial mech
- your nns is going to be depressing but what can you do. when the s hits it'll at least have a little more meat behind it than that of a fomarl's or a fonewm's

.. basically just use anything else you'd use on any other fo for melee damage. all the staples are the same (fanatic etc), you just dont get pgp so you have to roll chaostriker instead.

honestly fomar has a lot of really crippling weapon choice issues. i only recommend him over fomarl if you really need the gi boost for your playstyle. the extra 130ish atp is nice but you lose out on parasols and vivienne AND rambling may AND rico's glasses so it's kinda

on the bright side though you can be an old man, which is fun

real talk though he is fun to play, just the 163 ata thing makes him a sort of laughing stock

95% Hit Kings Vulcans (I can actually HHH)
50% Hit Bringers Rifle
50% Hit Pan Arms
52% Hit Red Saber (Crimson bonus is +22 ATA, makes Red Saber same atp as Excal)
20% Hit Asteron Belt
15% Hit Holy Ray
Evetually a Hit Slicer of Fanatic

Elemental Wands
Merc Rod
Glide Divine

Crimson Cloak
Ignition Cloak

Red Ring (Adding another 20 ATA onto my weaps)
Anti-Dark Ring (when the situation comes)

Units:
Heavenly/Arms
Smartlink
Centurion/Ability (maybe an Adept if I can ever get one)
V801 or Heavenly Battle

I'll throw in my 2¢. Level 161 on ephinea and 110 on GC. I think I'd be a bit dissapointed if I made my fomar in place of a hune. Mostly for the reasons you listed.

In my eyes the versatility of having melee and spellcasting as viable options is what makes the fomar a lot of fun to play. Techs give you a lot of utility in their ability to stun/interrupt certain mobs ie. ob lilies or Zus. Mobs that are too spread out for slicer/partisan are no problem either.

J/z duty is a double edged sword. Kind of a pain to have to cast it before you start attacking all the time but it tags the mobs so you can feed your mag/tp stuff in combat and not miss a beat <_<

Yomap and Agastya did a good job listing really good fomar equip. I would add resta merge to the list of must-haves. Guardianna with hit seems to be somewhat popular as well. Havent gotten a good one to do a lot of testing so im not sure how i feel about the tp drain.
Honorable mention to Soul Eater for the low levels.

Totally roll one though PSO always needs more forces.

Seems like a bit, but depending on the quest you can drop half the stuff in your bank. E.g. in group play, I leave most of my atp stuff in bank except SoF.
 
The lack of female weps and a 163 ATA cap makes early game feel extremely crippling once you get into Ultimate, which is going to shoehorn you into a support-only role for awhile. That changes once you obtain enough tech and ATA boosts (hit %s, red ring, etc).

A FOmar's max damage potential is a few steps above the other forces (excluding trying to out-tech a FOnewm). The problem is the hefty amount of work needed to completely overcome the 163 ATA limitation (40+ hit excals and 65% hit vulcs don't grow on trees :()

Still a very fun force to play, though I'm getting really bad at remembering to prioritize actually healing team-mates :<
