Strange occasional crashes, help?

Hi guys,

I keep getting the occasional "crash" of sorts. It's seems as if it's a video/driver thing but at the same time, get no driver errors.

I can play for hours fine, then all of a sudden the screen will lock up visually. BUT, the game continues in the background, I'm able to type to other players to notify I have a crash and can hear the game continuing. I check task manager and my driver overly and the system is fine, not hanging or freezing up. All seems normal except a locked visual from the game.

Has anyone experienced this? Wondmering if it's DirectX version or some settings maybe?

Thanks

Are you playing on Direct3D 11 or 12? If so, try lowering or disabling the anti-aliasing the launcher options. If you're using HSAA or SSAA, this is sometimes caused by that mix of settings.

Thanks for the reply! I'm playing in 1440p, Direct3D 12 with SMAA Ultra

Just following on from this. I've still had a few crashes since. Here is information extracted from event viewer if it may shine any extra light?

What have you tried changing?
Are you using a completely base install? No custom textures for example.
Any other crash info?

This is an actual crash, whereas the original post talked about an issue where the game isn't crashing but is having issues rendering.

I've tried various different DirectX versions and Vulkan, lowered or removed some of the post processing like AO and Cel shading etc. No custom textures etc, just floor reader addon. I don't know where I would find any info other than that in event viewer. All crashes I've had are as I described in the OP, where the game appears to continue in the background and I can type to other players still informing them I've had a crash. Audio continues, movement also. But the image is frozen up. The last time it happened rather than ending task I left it to see if it would resume but I suppose it closed itself eventually. Not sure how to explain beyond that really.
Thanks

I’ve seen that with the Direct3D 12 API on some setups. Try a different one or just go down to 9 and lose the ability to lock your screen or have a screensaver.
