If the game is unable to access its assets it'll crash. I'd recommend disabling any AV to test if this is causing it. Also disable DEP as this is known to crash some clients when trying to access assets loaded in memory such as sound files.
Another thing, too, I thought of last night. The video player uses DirectShow and if you have some crazy codec pack or something installed, it may cause an issue too...
I have this Samsung computer straight from South Korea. I dunno why it doesn't work on it so I switched to my other computer to create a character and it worked.
