Say you were going to hunt some Hildetorrs in the forest. And of course you have multiple IDs to choose from, where you can either go for a Heaven Punisher or get 102 Frozen Shooters in the same amount of runs, based on the drop rate ratio of essential 1/204 vs 1/2 being 102:1. Now, I've created a program that will generate the stats of the 102 Frozen Shooters and the stats of the HP and for extra funzies, the run of it I'll use for this hasn't even been run yet. So not even I know which is the better option.

So if it were up to you, which would you take? The 102 Frozen Shooters, or the 1 Heaven Punisher? I'll run my program and show the stats of all of them in like a week. But until then, I'm curious to see which option people would choose. And no, sorry, you don't actually get any of these items lol.

For anyone wondering how it works, the program is based on my best understanding of the drop % chances. It works like this, and someone please correct me if this is wrong, but I've fun enough tests that it does show a very strong p-value with the distribution from the game, so it's statistically likely to be correct.

So each nonzero percentage on a rare is going to come from pattern 6 of this table: http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=721
It doesn't matter where the rare is found, each nonzero percentage will always follow that same pattern. As in, any rare weapon with hit has a 1/10000 chance to have max hit. Now you'll probably wonder why you don't have any yet with those odds, but as you can probably figure out, a lot of them don't come with hit. Which is where the next part comes in. For this, albeit far less important, it actually does matter where the weapon is found, and each area has its own chances of percentages in different areas. Although the hit % chance is always at 5% anywhere on Ultimate so you don't need to change where you're hunting that rare weapon to try to increase your hit % chances. So the thing is, in the forest, the chances are split like this:
None: 25%
Native: 30%
A. Beast: 19%
Machine: 13%
Dark: 8%
Hit: 5%

And you get 3 rolls, but if multiple rolls land in the same category, all but one in that category are ignored. They don't get rerolled or anything. So there's really the following chances of having a percentage in each such area:
Native: 65.7%
A. Beast: 46.8559%
Machine: 34.1497%
Dark: 22.1312%
Hit: 13.2625%

And the percentages other than hit will change with other areas, but hit is always that same percentage no matter what area you're in as it always has 5% in the table.

So with all that in mind, you can expect about 13.52775 of the FSs to have hit, but only a 13.2625% chance for the HP to have hit.

Given all of this information, which option do you choose?

Because of how HPs special works it doesnt actually need hit at all. And if you really then wanted a hit MM for its autoaim, its much much easier to hunt OS with the hit part.

I personally only really want HP (keep in mind ive hunted it for the last 4 years, 300 torr, 8k spiegell, 300 mericarol, seen 5 drop but not for me) so that i can use the DP special on my RAmarl while being to simultaneously being able to use the HS zerk special. And the reason i want DP is actually super niche as well lol. I only want it for inf stun on mericarols and other dangerous spawns, as well as possibly using in ep 4 depending on spawn formations if i think i can touch all 10 targets and some of them consisting of lizards.

All of this being said, for collectors, you will need 2 HPs to complete the set of all items in the game. So if you dont have 1 or 2 HP already you should be hunting that to expand your collection and weapons options.

On the topic of FS, Snow Queen is dangerously underrated. If you already do not have one with moderate hit then those 13 FS with hit could be quite fanciful. FS itself does not actually need hit, while nice to hit on the second hit and maybe even first hit of the combo, it is already guaranteed to hit on the third S of a combo.

On top of this all you can also consider the PDs that can be earned from trading away the FS. And ones with Hit becoming quite valuable however its entirely dependent on RNG. Assuming all FS are both 0’d and no hit thats still 102 pds generated vs HPs hunts 0. But also keep in mind it might take a while to sell 102 1 pd weapons. Now onto my final answer…

My answer is this: if you already do not have the weapon Heaven’s Punisher then you should farm it in order to have viable endgame gear for RAmarl, however niche it may be lol HOWEVER if you do not CARE about HP at all or already have enough of them then FS is the better hunt monetarily speaking. You can also consider, possibly saving up the PDs farm to simply buy HP as well. However it is fairly sparsely hunted and not traded too regularly so this poses its own issues as well.

Happy hunting! Looking forward to seeing what your program spits out as well

Ack, typo in the hit rate, really 14.2625%. Really should change how many expected hit FSs you'd get too as I based that number off of the number that was wrong.

And yes I know a HP doesn't need hit as you can use the special anyways and you'll likely use the hit of an Ophelie if you make a MM anyways.

Still, I think I'd go with the FSs. If you get one with like 50+ hit it'd be worth way more than a HP. Sure they might all suck but I still think it's overall better.

How many team points would both make? I feel this is important
Well each FS is a 10 star item, so 10*102=1020, whereas HP is a 12-star item, so the FSs would give far more teampoints.

Also, for anyone interested, I've run a simulation of many trials of getting 102 FSs and come up with here's the distribution of the highest hit you'll get out of the bunch (post-tek):
0 : <0.0001
15: <0.0001
20: 0.0006
25: 0.0116
30: 0.0917
35: 0.2897
40: 0.2400
45: 0.1709
50: 0.0870
55: 0.0592
60: 0.0236
65: 0.0120
70: 0.0047
75: 0.0016
80: 0.0015
85: 0.0015
90: 0.0015
95: 0.0016
100: 0.0016

So most likely the best FS in the bunch would have 35, 40, or 45 hit.

The FSes for sure.

I’m actually quite surprised at how many people hunt HP on Bluefull considering there’s plenty of other reasonable options. (Skyly and Purplenum namely.) With that many FS there’s a chance you’ll land a high hitter that’s worth considerably more than a 0% hit HP.

Very true, the kindest thing I can say about my times spent in blue forest is that it had Vjaya boxes as a side hunt.

Outside of leveling/solo e4/scaring rappies DP is useless. A single FS 0h is a much more needed essential RA utility weapon. And 102 gives you the chance to get hit so ya, FS!

Or in terms of value you could swing HP and sell for 250, then use halve of that for a decent FS. But with 102 FS you could get a high hit one (or multiple meaning more than 250pd), so it's rng vs buying.

Well DP can infinitely stun enemies like mericarol until a teammate can freeze/arrest so it does have its own niche uses and its certainly not meta or for RTA. I would say it would benefit hardcore (f) players the most and you might not even want to use it in ep4 (multimode) due to the DMC it causes.

Like i said before it really comes down to the player. If you are a completionist then you have to hunt HP (or 2) most likely. About 99/100 of meta endgame players arent going to see any value in it, therefore they arent going to want to hunt it.

The FS hunt is objectively the best hunt even if it might take a year or more to sell through all 102 FS you will still be generating alot more money.

HP is only the best hunt for the player who desperately wants HP. Ive seen 300 blue bears so of course ive thought “oh what if i hunted FS this whole time” but i never felt bad about it because thats how badly i want HP for my builds and strats. Ive also hunted FS quite a bit and managed to find a 30h for SQ which was plenty hit for me currently until i can upgrade it. Since most players dont see value in HP or just see it as a way to flex then they simply wouldnt hunt it.

Well I'm tired of waiting lol, let's see what you ended up getting to know if team FS wins with some crazy good FS, team HP wins with there being no good FSs, or it being somewhat of a draw. Here we go.

All of these are untekked stats.

The way my luck has been today I'll take any of those 102 please

I've grown very accustomed to barrier, mag and unit swaps from playing HUcl so much, so although I sometimes like a quick DP in solo, in my case I don't need HP at all besides maybe guaranteed sell value. Not many instances I get to use M&Y for solo RA anyway, even the casts.
FS all the way for finding a potential high hitter.

Can always just make a barrier or mag or unit swap macro lol

i see all your lil' numbers and crunching and min/maxing and what not

it's still the heaben puncher, for me.

8 hit fs. Out of a 102 of them... man that is depressing however a 35 and 45 end result sort of makes me happy. 25, 15, 20, 15, 30, and 25 end result.

Assuming you can flip the other 94 for a pd you make some ok funds.
