Maser Beam tests/questions

Hey all,

I been trying out the Maser Beam last night.
Has anyone tested it out and found out how it actually works?

I ran a few tests last night with my friend, and so far we didnt make any sense of it.
Im a RAcaseal, so a RAmarl tested it with me for the Mind side of it.


ATP does not scale with Maser Beam.
- Nor Shifta or Zalure affect the damage inflicted.
- Increasing ATP throught MAG or Units does not affect the damage inflicted.

ATA does not seem to scale with Maser Beam.
-Equipping a MAG with DEX does not affect the damage inflicted.

MND seems to varie slightly the damage (not personally verified)
-By equipping Mind Mag + units (50 MND points increased 2 points of damage)
**Will try borrow a high MND mag later for further tests**

Maser reacts to Electrical resistance/weakness.
Damage was lesser on Barles, and higher on their counterpart "Gobooma".

For peace of mind, Equipping Shock resist units does not affect the damage inflicted.


Im trying to get a Gizonde amplifier, which will boost 30% damage according to the writings.

Now, a weapon that doesnt seem to scale with anything, dont that look awkward?
Is the Maser just a flat Lv Tech for Rangers and thats it?
Impossible to varie/buff the damage output, at all (if yellow barrier) ?

Alright, thats good to know!!
Any idea if it scales with anything to increase the output?
Or its definitly only Gizonde Merge, and thats the max output?
 
It's not used to inflict damage really. Androids can use this to destroy traps (behind some walls and obstacles too). It only ever affects one target afaik. You could upgrade to Power Maser for multi-target Gizonde. That one can be used against Vol Opt screens, with Machine % increasing your Gizonde damage - although there is no stun when playing solo since it is combo-locked.
 
Oh right, i see. So its more like a tagger-tool than a weapon really, or a stun gun.
That make sense.

I thought something was broke, or i just didnt know how to use it.
Now i get i just definitly didnt know its purpose :D

Do Technique boosts influence weapon super specials at all in BB? I was under the impression that they don't, or else the Resta boost on Solferino would influence the range of its special attack, for example.

Yes thats a feature of the Maser Beam, i dont know if any other combination apply to other weapons though, but this one is official.
The missing ATP scaling makes it more of a tool than a weapon indeed.
Despites the ATP on the card varies, damage inflicted seems to be static, why i was confused.
 
Maser Beam has ATP defined in its item data, as all weapons do, but because it's hardcoded to shoot a Technique instead of bullets, the ATP it gives is irrelevant.
 
Yes as you siad, its a fixed value; Lv4 and Lv9.
It does make sense now :)
