game used to run, now the launcher works but the game exe crashes immediately never opens

windows 10 64-bit latest updates etc. any ideas? nothing in terms of errors mentioned anywhere.

last played fine april 2017. never even uninstalled the game.

found the log files in the game folder:

Try changing your resolution options in the launcher. You probably set it higher than your monitor can support.

yes my screen is 4K. the game doesn't even go that high. turns out though that the 2560x1440 (16:9) res is broken on my system..

switched to 2560x1600 (16:10) and it works.

anyone else have this issue? wonder if we can narrow it down to the cause!

yes that's one thing I did change- because I had to re-install the game as antivirus deleted online.exe at some point in the last year, happened to choose the correct aspect ratio this time but it happened to be the one resolution that doesn't work ..

my hardware: Intel 6820HK w/ 530 graphics, AMD Radeon M395x, Alienware 15 R2/3, 32GB DDR, etc. yeah maxed laptop almost!
