Game Crashes after Update

Hello,

I've reviewed the Technical Support and am still having this issue, hoping to get some assistance.

To start, I downloaded this game before Easter, and ran into a crashing issue that I'm sure was due to the DEP settings. I followed the steps in Technical Support and it fixed the issue.

Then, after the most recent update I found that I was receiving error messages when starting the launcher "Unable to write update" (apologies for not taking a screenshot). I received two messages basically stating the game was unable to update. When I launched the game, and tried to log in, I would receive "NO916 Server is full".

At this point, I tried re-installing the game, then running the launcher as administrator. I verified that my AV isn't blocking PSOBB. After doing these things, I don't get the message that the game isn't updating when I start it (I do briefly see the update bar). However, now my game crashes. It's always at the same time - so far tested when Phase 2 begins during the Dragon boss.

From reading previous posts, it sounds like players with this problem figured out it was a DEP issue, but I already adjusted the settings previously to correct that. When I open the error log, it is blank.

Any suggestions/tips on how to correct this issue? I appreciate any assistance.

It sounds like the first issue you should resolve is why the launcher cannot update ephinea.dll. Maybe you installed the game somewhere that needs Admin privileges? If so, first try deleting or renaming ephinea.dll. Then try running online.exe as admin and make sure the game is closed when you do this (no psobb.exe process in Task Manager).

Sometimes, antivirus such as Windows Defender can block the update. This is pretty rare these days because the executables are all signed, but other antivirus software might still interfere. So you might want to try whitelisting the folder where psobb.exe lives afterwards.
