Can't run game in 4:3 when using virtual fullscreen

No matter what resolution I pick, the game is using my monitor's aspect ratio in virtual fullscreen.
I'm on Linux running the game over wine. My particular breed of Linux has a hissy fit whenever I change resolutions so normal fullscreen is off the table.
Also, because I'm on Linux my Nvidia control panel is going to be completely different from yours.
Help appreciated!
