I played this game back in 2000-2001 (or there abouts) on the Dreamcast then the x-box. I just rediscovered it now and downloaded the game, But on the input screen I can type my user name, but It on't let me go to my password.
After you type the username you need to press enter before trying to go to the password. And also press enter on the password before and after typing to select it.

Have it in window mode or tabbed? If so make sure your on that window, not tabbed out. I'm not sure what else to say sorry. My friend had the same issue for days but he just reinstalled and it worked.
