10th Anniversary Event
11th August ~ 8th September

Welcome to the 10th Ephinea Anniversary Event!

If you're a veteran, you'll already know what this event is all about, and to save you trawling through the thread, here's all the changes this year:

- August Atrocity #1 and #2 are no longer required to be cleared for the server milestones, instead a single AA clear counts double for the lowest MAE clear.
- Badges drop at a variable rate: The 3 lowest MAE quests get a +25% badge rate and the 3 highest get a -25% badge rate if they are more than 500 clears above the median MAE clear. The August Atrocity quests also get the +25% badge rate boost.
- Milestones have been condensed for overall bigger rewards per unlock, consequentially the points needed for each milestone have been increased.
- The milestone targets were estimated by considering past Anniversary events.
- This should hopefully address the main issue with last year's Anniversary event where one quest was a large majority of games.
- Platinum badge rewards have been changed, removing Lavis Cannon and replacing it with Sonic Doll; a mag cell straight from PSO2 turning your mag into Sonic.

What's the Anniversary Event?

The Anniversary Event is an event which features badge currency drops and a set of exclusive limited-time quests, known as Maximum Attack E.

During the course of this event, you will be able to find four different types of badges:
  • Bronze (All Difficulties)
  • Silver (Very Hard and Ultimate)
  • Gold (Ultimate Only)
  • Platinum (Ultimate Only, extremely rare)
The higher the difficulty, the more common the badge drops. These badges will drop anywhere, they are not exclusive to the event quest series.

All badge drops will also be independent of any drop rate modifications. This means you will find badges at the same rate regardless of the amount of players you are playing with.

Note that badges cannot drop from rappies that are scared instead of killed.

You'll be able to spend these badges in the "Anniversary Event Shop" under Episode 1 at various NPCs.

Note that:
  • 10 Bronze = 1 Silver
  • 10 Silver = 1 Gold
Maximum Attack E

Maximum Attack E are this event's designated quest series.

Each quest is designed to last 5-10 minutes, and cannot be failed, meaning all players will be able to participate.

The quest list is as follows:
  • Maximum Attack E: Forest
  • Maximum Attack E: Caves
  • Maximum Attack E: Mines
  • Maximum Attack E: Ruins
  • Maximum Attack E: Temple
  • Maximum Attack E: Spaceship
  • Maximum Attack E: CCA
  • Maximum Attack E: Seabed
  • Maximum Attack E: Tower
  • Maximum Attack E: Crater
  • Maximum Attack E: Desert
Note that each quest features a timer. This timer doesn't have any purpose and is simply for players who like to see how fast they're going. The timer will also freeze at the end of the quest, so players don't have to rush to press their printscreen button.

August Atrocity
This is a returning series of quests introduced for this year's event. Like the December Disaster quests from the Christmas event, these quests are made in the style of the existing event quests but feature a wide variety of enemies, including enemies from other episodes this time!

Event Milestones

Event Milestone Page

During this event, clears of each event quest in Ultimate difficulty will be tallied. The lowest cleared event quest will determine the server's current milestone.

Make certain goals to unlock boosts for everyone to enjoy. Any boosts applied will function everywhere, not only in the event quests.

If you wish to see your personal kill counter, talk to the Guide in the Anniversary Badge Shop.

Anniversary Shop Quest

Normal → Episode 1 → Shop

If you manage to find or earn badges on your travels and hunts, you may trade them for various goodies in the Anniversary Shop Quest.

There are a total of 8 NPCs to do trades with, and they all take various badges for their services.

Check under the spoiler if you're interested in the shop list.

In the Anniversary Shop, there are nine NPCs who would love to do business with you and your badges.

The Hunter from Ragol
Location: Tyrell's Office

The Hunter can be a little rough around the edges, but you can't argue with his stock. If you bring him Gold Badges, you can trade him for one of his weapons. If you're lucky, you might get one with Hit. All weapons will cost 1 Gold Badges.

The Hunter is sick of properly tekking items for you, so you can buy a random untekked weapon for 1 Gold Badge. They can potentially have higher percentages, but you don't get to choose which weapon you'll get.

The Badger
Location: Outside the teleporter to Tyrell's Office

The Badger has been here all along. He used to hang around the bank, waiting for his friends to show up. They never did. Now he expects you to be his friend. Good luck with that.

He's not without a purpose, however. Instead of trading up badges through the Badge Shops, the Badger will provide that service for you. He's just that nice of a guy. If you bring him 10 Bronzes, he'll give you 1 Silver, and if you bring him 10 Silvers, he'll give you 1 Gold.

The Guide
Location: Hunter's Guild

The Guide makes her return from last year, providing some insight into the event to players who ask. If looking up this thread every time seems tedious, seek out the Guide instead.

Like last year, the Guide is also in charge of handing out the grand prize for players who find the coveted Platinum Badge.

Currency: Platinum

1 = Sonic Doll
1 = Sealed J-Sword
1 = Heaven Punisher
1 = Handgun: Guld
1 = Psycho Wand
1 = Prophets of Motav

All weapons come with 0% in every category.

So there's no other way to get Sonic Doll at all?
Quick question: How long is this event going to last?
It's normally 1 month.

On a different note, now that AA1 and AA2 give points to the lowest, let's try to get a lot of temples and spaceships early to make sure the AA runs go to seabed and tower where it's harder to get points as quickly. Looks like those will be the 4 lowest.

I am very much looking forward to enjoying this event for many, many hours!

However, I am disappointed the server wide HBR-style boost unlocks were selected again this year. Even with the boosted badge rates for the quests that are lagging behind and the AA quests acting as a booster for the lowest quests, Forest and Desert have still been completed several times more often than the other quests as of the end of day one.

Attempting to coordinate a large group of people to accomplish a common goal with several different parts (ie. completing a large lists of tasks in a proportionate manner) is not feasible. Things like this can be done in a business environment where loss of income / livelihood can motivate people to work together, but it is never going to happen in a leisure activity.

A complicated boost system like this is punishing human beings for possessing human nature: Doing what they want to do and acting in their own self interest. It was not realistic to assume it would be any different this year, and so far I am correct.

it's true...but on the positive side it sorta works out. It looks like we might reach all the goals and then, if progress continues at this pace and a bit more on weekends, it looks like we could have a whole week of everything unlocked which seems fair. Or I could be wrong...hope not.

I think the variable badge rate is a really great change too. I think it's fair that the people pushing the less popular and possibly less lucrative quests get a small bonus for their effort. I think people should run whatever they want to but this is a good incentive be a little more adventurous. It's worked on me so far.

And if I haven't said it already... super grateful to the Ephinea team... I really look forward to this event every year lately.

I can understand where you're coming from with this but not everyone likes to work in groups...I myself have been a loner the majority of my life and the idea of joining a team TERRIFIES me. Still it's nice that each person can go about at their own pace right?

Still tons of forest and desert and it seems a slightly lower badge rate won't stop people from playing those a ton.

On the flip side, the higher badge rate almost works but it's kind of annoying that there are like 5 quests that are almost all equally low so it can be hard to start them when they're in the bottom 3. And with the AA quests giving to the lowest it seems those quests will likely keep staying about equal. I feel like it'd be better if any quest within 100 points of the lowest should also count for the +25% badge rate so that it wouldn't be so hard to get the extra rate when doing quests that are still some of the low on points ones. Although that would be fairly minor and I won't cry if it doesn't happen or anything.

They're so close together sometimes that each time I tried to start a quest in the bottom 3, it would be bumped out of the bottom 3 so I wouldn't be getting the 25% boost. Checking the milestone page and it gets bumped out of the bottom 3.

Okay, no problem, I'll just do a different one.

Quit quest, make new room through lobby, select another bottom 3 and...

Oh great, that one isn't in the bottom 3 anymore either. ಠ_ಠ;

I'm... just gonna hunt for Lily's in Maximum Attack B/C. I gotta go for that Psycho Wand eventually.

Make sure to use the /badge command, afaik it's more accurate. Milestone page doesn't update right away.

Yes that other page is like half an hour behind or something. You could tell since we had the more exp in game well before that showed and /badge shows a more updated version but it can still change which are the bottom 3 fairly frequently.

Also it looks far more achievable to get all of them than last year and I actually don't mind that it's like trying to get a lazy dance partner to follow your moves. Sure, it won't go perfectly, but it generates a lot of interesting scenarios where it's interesting to find ways to do the best you can. Let's all keep dancing, we're doing great so far!

Having the same issue as people above try to start a +25% badge boost quest and then the list changes, the bottom 5 or 6 quests just all so close in points. Its impressive that they are so close just can be kind of annoying when trying to make a game.
