Greetings, fellow hunters.

I have been playing on this server since last summer (or maybe the one before, I cannot remember for sure) and, quite frankly, I did not expected to come and post any message on the forum.
But I recently had a few questions (which I will ask in the appropriate part of this forum in due time) and figured the polite thing to do before asking away was to at least introduce myself.

So, to get on with that, I started this series with Phantasy Star 4 on emulator, which I liked enough to start farming and trying to beat the "megido-giving" boss, instead of simply playing hard-to-get and say I didn't want the all-blasting technique (never succeeded though, but as I never reached level 99, I still do not know if it is technically achievable, nor if the damn thing would still teach Megido to Chaz or simply vanish away after giving a puny meseta and experience point).
I then discovered PSO on GC by chance (someone traded it with my brother for Skies of Arcadia. Still can't shake the feeling he got robbed, but well, it seems PSO was not his favourite kind of game). I then played this game for quite some time, but as it turns out, memory cards from BigBen are unreliable (to stay polite) and I had the opportunity to start multiples characters, none of them going farther than the Cave in Hard mode before the memory card got corrupted and needed to be repaired.
Later, I played it on Dreamcast (yes, I played version 1 AFTER GC version. I am still not sure why I did that, though) and had a bit of fun casting two or three Megid with my ranger and finally getting to Very Hard (and getting wrecked by Dark Falz a few times) before realizing there was no Ultimate difficulty on this version (or at least I believe. I might be wrong).
And quite recently (like yesterday or the day before that), I finished the first Phantasy Star on Nintendo Switch.

And so, last summer, while I was getting bored since not many games seemed interesting enough, I told myself "Hey, what the heck. Weren't there a PC version of PSO?". And so there was. So I looked for a server that would allow me to play with a near-vanilla experience.
Ephinea was the first I found and after reading a bit about it specificities, it turns out it propose something I like even more than a vanilla experience : a vanilla-enhanced experience (basically, the XP sharing based on PSO2 caught my eye. And the European server finished the job).

Now I am playing from time to time, leveling my old faithful RaMar at my own slowest pace and quite recently had the opportunity to reach Ultimate (and the sweet feeling of dealing three times 0 damage with my mechguns) and also discover episode 4 (which seems to be unfriendly towards rangers, but I guess this is payback for OlgaFlow, which seemed REALLY unfriendly towards close-range hunters).

On a separate note, I would consider selling my immortal soul for playing PSO2, but it turns out when Sega says "we will (finally) release the game for Occident", they only mean North America (I am French, if you are wondering). So I guess I will keep playing Xenoblade Chronicles X with a photon saber and dual guns on my Wii U and pretend it is the same.

On a finishing note, and despite I do not think I have anything to bring on the table that anyone here does not already know about the Phantasy Star series, I am always happy to share my knowledge about pretty much anything. Should you find an information I might have and want to hear about, do not refrain and ask away.

SQUEEeeeee! *POUNCES and examines the Le120-san carefully!* It's always wonderful hearing how Hunters from an age long gone suddenly get the urge to look up PSO some 15+ years later and not only Find us here still playing, but find us here still playing HAPPILY and with the same energy as we did waaaaay back! And yes, we're 'Vanilla'....but we're "Vanilla WITH SPRINKLES!". And yes, EP4 is the BANE of RAngers! But once you pair up with other classes, you'll be better than Fine...Orrr get your paws on a Heaven Striker or Heavens Punisher! Those lizards can't shrug off the special Divine Punishment attacks from them! =D! As for you feeling you don't have "anything to bring to the table"...LEAVE THAT Attitude behind dear! We All have our limits and circumstances for playing PSO at OUR OWN Pace and comfort zones...So when you play with us...you're not expected to be PURRFECT or Elite! Enjoy the company and learning curves! 19 years of PSOing and we still have our quirks. So dust off your mechguns and look to your horizons as you grind towards level 200! You got a long joyful road ahead of you! Looking Forward to pouncing and playing wiff you too! Bienvenue à la maison~! =3

Hey. Thanks for the warm (and reassuring) welcome!
And also for the tip on the Divine punishment. I can't wait to finally get my hands on a sweet Heaven Punisher. Because there will be punishment alright. And while I do not know if it will be divine in nature, it will certainly feels like...

Cool, I have a "blooper" video that shows how I do use Divine Punishment for quick experience points gains, but the downside is that you don't get any items from running Maximum Attack S in Episode 4. Another factor is that I have 100% more experience gained because I am doing this on a hardcore account. I highly recommend that you try it in hardcore mode if you're already in hardcore mode, but it's still okay to try in normal mode with 100% less experience points gained. My gear includes a Heaven Striker and Striker Unit mag instead of a Heaven Punisher though since those items are much easier to obtain than a Heaven Punisher. So if I do some Scot Steiner math here without going crazy by diving into the experience points and anguish level numbers too much and consider how much faster I do partial runs like I attempted to do on a run in anguish level 2 without failing in that blooper video (derp), I believe that I will be more productive in doing partial runs of Subterranean Desert 1 by /lobby'n out before the first wave of Pyro Gorans occurs while killing the previous wave of 16 Gorans right after the laser fence is deactivated because I have to keep moving around with these sneaky Pyro Gorans and Goran Detonators while equipping a Cure/Freeze to keep moving away from the Merissas spitting Gibarta in order to complete most of the map before the last wave of Merissas and Sand Rappies spawn, which I consider to be a full run in my book. Phew, that was a long sentence.

Edit: I'll link this advice over in this thread for you @Le120.

Yeah, I did not try Hardcore mode yet. I quite recently gave up the idea of having 120% synchro at all time on my mag, due to how I have a hard time staying alive in Ultimate mode.
But this is on my "to-do someday list", more exactly when I'll finally get a good feeling about Ultimate mode and feel confidant enough to max my synchro, I might get an hardcore character for some "Phantasy Souls Online" experience.

And thanks for the tip. I am not much about farming (and yet I love PSO. Can't get why...) but I figured I might not have a choice at some point, so it is nice to have an idea of where to start already.
