PSO+: Will editing the DAR make DF\OF drop their items offline?

In PSO+ for the GameCube, itemrt.gsl lists Dark Falz\Olga Flow as dropping Red Ring\Parasitic gene "Flow" at a rate of 1 / 64. These items don't drop though because DF\OF's Drop Anything Rate (DAR) found in itempt.gsl is set to 0%.

If I edit itempt.gsl to change their DAR, will they start dropping these items offline? Could this have any negative side effects?

No (bad) side effects, but changing the DAR would make it also drop common items, when the rare doesn't drop.
That, if it's not blocked in code.

Changing the DAR alone will have no effect, because neither Dark Falz nor Olga Flow call the item drop function when you kill them.

And @Aleron Ives, is there an easy way to make them call the drop function? Does it require assembly hacking?

You must add a significant amount of new assembly in addition to modifying the drop files.
