Game Crashes while killing monsters in christmas event. Only on one crash I seen a weird looking drop as the game crashed. Looked like a jar. What can I do to fix this? For now I keep trying different direct x settings (tried dx12, dx9on12, dx9 so far).

So this is probably something on your end. Can you be more specific about the crash? Is it only in certain quests or all quests? Is the crash only in a certain area or when killing a certain monsters? Are you playing solo or in a group when you crash? If solo, are you crashing only on certain characters?

No idea what you mean by weird looking drop. Are you using any custom textures? Can you try a fresh reinstall?

Go into Windows Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application. Find the Error event for psobb.exe. Can you provide the "Fault offset" and trailing component of the "Fault module" path? The fault offset should be a hexadecimal number. The fault module would be something like "C:\EphineaPSO\psobb.exe." Only the final component of that path, "psobb.exe," is needed.

I'm only trying the christmas event quest. Not even a specific area, or killing specific monsters. I'm trying to pinpoint it as a specific DROP that crashes the game.

Here is the windows event viewer log:\

Not sure, crashing in ephinea.dll is weird.

1. Do you crash in Direct3D 8?
2. Are you using any custom textures?
3. Have you tried a fresh reinstall?
4. Is this an issue that just started happening? Were you able to play just fine before this event? When was the last time?

This isn't an issue anyone else is reporting so it's something specific to your setup. Honestly, I would try a fresh reinstall first to ensure no custom textures, go back to Direct3D 8, and see if that works first. If it does, then try Direct3D 9. If that works, then start adding back your custom textures one by one.

I haven't played the game in years. I was lvl 1 earlier today when this happened. I don't use custom textures. I never tried Direct 8.

I am now level 8 still grinding out this christmas area to wait for whatever is suppose to drop here to crash me. One thing that has changed from the last post and now, PSOBB is now using my RTX3080ti and not the internal GPU. Still haven't seen whatever item drop that crashed me yet. If it do, i'll switch it to direct 8 to see what happens.

Also direct 9 was the default that I started out with that crashed me.
