Basic webpage interface to add user accounts.

Hey. Imagine my surprise to see that this is being revived! Thanks to all for doing this, I used the instructions sodaboy had up and they worked great.

One thing that would be beneficial is to have some sort of included "sign-up" webpage that would allow users to sign themselves up instead of the admin doing it with the exe. I know most of the major servers have their own processes, and I don't think it would be terribly difficult. I'd imagine you would want to do this in a server-side language so people couldn't view the source and see your credentials in javascript or something.

I'm only a front-end developer and not a programmer, so I don't know the best way to go about it... but I could probably create something extremely basic. Let me know.

For ultima I wrote a login in PHP, roughly you need to create a form containing the data you want form the player : username, password, email and a captcha cause there are malicious people that create accounts with bots (though a simple query can get rid of those, it's still a pain).

You consolidate the data on the server side (make sure it's safe against SQL injections and scripting attacks) and once that's done, you write a query that inserts the data in your SQL database.

I learned a lot from w3schools :


Now I could send you the code I wrote but I think it's more beneficial if you manage to write it yourself. You will get a good feel of the database structure of PSO (which is pretty simple except the datablob but you don't need that one for now). And I don't mind taking a look at your work and give you directions or help you out if things don't work as you expected :p

There is a basic signup.php that comes with the tethealla binaries. You can edit and apply your own styles to that and it'll work fine.

1 you have a swamp server installed in your machine?

hi, no, i'm no programmer nor web designer, I'm really noob ^^;
I'm using the .dat version, since i play with only 4-5 friends of mine, but it would be interesting if there was a simple web account procedure integrated, for noobs like me

fist download and install it in you machine ( I recommend that you use a virtual machine to keep your server always online )

Hmm, you're referring to the exe's on the client-side right? The ones linked on this site don't include it. If you're referring to the compiled ship/login files... I don't think they're in there either.
