Any guides on music modding?

I was listening to the lobby music through headphones and realized it sounded oddly tinny, so I listened to the itunes OST album and discovered that they seriously crushed the music files in the game itself. I've never really modded a game before, but I could I'd like to try to fix this myself by replacing the in game music with the soundtrack release version. Is there a guide I can use to do this?

The OGG files were done by SEGA around 96kbps, probably to keep the download smaller back in the day.

Some of the OGG files are a pain to replace, like the sl_*ogg files for exploration and combat as they are sort of a mishmash of multiple parts of a song and have to be reconstructed in the same fashion.

The OGG player in PSO also reads metadata from the OGG files which it uses for loop starts and ends.

I mean, you could very well replace it, but it's probably more time consuming than it's worth for some of the files.
