Controls stop working occasinonally

It may be worth checking for any direct x updates (perform windows update and check for any direct x updates also in optional updates)

Try disconnecting all gamepads and see if the issue occurs with just the keyboard.

If using a unofficial gamepad driver such as XBCD try older/newer drivers.

Remember this game was designed for DirectX 8 and windows XP although Sega released an update for windows Vista which also enabled support for 7 there's no support from sega (obviously) so if Windows 8/10 suddenly stops working with DX8 games properly or a bug occurs with PSOBB in these operating systems patching the game may be impossible.

The ASM patches are the source of this problems i've said it before, that feature needs to be further tested and verified.
The ASM patches you applied caused your issue. which were examples in the example_asmpatch and even stated in the file not to apply them because it was random code and random offsets.

This happened to me a LOT on ultima, and a few times on scht back when. All controls just go dead, and you essentially have to force crash the game through task manager. The game becomes intangible yet its still running.

I guess that kind of sucks for falkenjeff, since that means the game is somehow broken and doesn't like some other process that both you and he have running but other people don't. It's definitely not up to Soda to fix it if it happens on other servers.

Well considering all input from both keyboard and controller and even mouse stop working, and considering it's across 2 different computers with different situations I don't know what to say to that other than we dont know. I will however say, that this did not start until we got widescreen PSO...so maybe something within that. That's the only thing I can discern different from the normal client we used to use where I never had that issue.

I generally use the widescreen launcher and have done for a year. Have never come across an issue with input devices stopping working. If it's something the widescreen launcher is doing I can look into it. However if the fix is to run without the widescreen launcher that is all I can suggest at the moment.

I don't run widescreen, and it happened to me.

I had an issue with the controls a few minutes earlier, which is probably the first time I've had problems with controls in many years. Granted my controls did not die, I was simply locked into walking forward (forward being wherever the camera was pointing.) My keyboard controls still functioned normally beyond that (which was strange because autorun/autowalk did nothing, my inputs took priority, and I have nothing else plugged in atm.)
Going into the options and turning the keyboard controls On>Off>On fixed it.

I started using the widescreen client today so, take from that what you will. I play a billion other games and am somewhat versed in the computa blahblahblah

So you didn't accidentally hit Q or E on your keyboard? That's the only way that auto walk/run triggers for me.

No, I didn't. I thought I did as well, so that's why I tried hitting them after it happened. Nothing would stop it (short of doing the keyboard On>Off>On)
