Is the same thing done with badges going to happen to the other event items, like eggs, as well?

The drop rate of each badge type has been the same since 2017. Platinum Badge is indeed 1/lol. It was originally targeted for less than 5 of them to drop in a single Anniversary event. Of course, the number of players has gone up significantly since then, so we've had 30-60 of them drop each of the past few years.

Anyway, it hasn't even been 10 days and there have already been 21 drops (as of ~5 hours ago when I pulled server logs to check something).
 
I could be wrong, but from my math I had previously estimated a platinum badge was about 1 in 1,000,000. Now keep in mind people could've just been lucky or unlucky during that time so it could be flawed, but wow, I think people have been very lucky to get so many as I doubt we've killed 21,000,000 just since the event started.
 
I have to say there's something very special about the shared badge drops and their implementation this year. Killing enemies and knowing the whole party has heard the same rare drop sound and gotten the notification of the same item being deposited into their banks really enhances the sense of camaraderie this game is already pretty great at fostering.

Given that eggs and presents have different/unique models, I'm not sure never seeing them on the floor as regular drops again is necessarily the play, but I wonder if the idea behind this functionality could be implemented for like, Photon Drops, maybe? Those are higher value than bronze and silver badges though so I'm not sure if that would be great either. Just something I thought about.

Quick edit followup, I also think that "deposit x item directly into player bank" is an idea that shouldn't be overused, as it steps a lot on the toes of things like inventory management, what items you break "formation" (such as it is, this is mostly a very-organized-parties thing) to pick up, how you recover from that, etc., but it is very nice to not have to worry about having three separate stacks of event-exclusive items for anniversary specific.

thank you ephinea team! this is always a special time of year for me that I look forward to. Like an exclusive holiday just for us. my girlfriend said "oh, it's that time of year when you ignore me again" :rolleyes: lol. it's true though, most of my free time goes to PSO during this time (not ignoring responsibilities, of course). and the new changes are great as usual. so thanks once again. Having auto-loot like in PSO2:NGS would be an unexpected quality of life update since that would be less trips to the bank for stuff like materials, grinders, photon drops, music discs, and other stackable stuff.

Don't deny me the only pickups I find outside of (and also mostly in) events.

Blue Powder Coating is really helpful for telling two of the same weapons apart. I'd love it if this could be applied to Galatine as well.

Im done with the anniversary. I had a lot of fun, rised a lot of levels, gain a lot of prizes and meet wonderful people. I can't wait for the next one. Thank you everyone!
 
Thanks for the Anniversary event guys! Really enjoyed it and felt like I put in a lot of work in levelling up the characters!

Is there an exact time for when the event ends and is turned off? (and what time zone?)
