I took a few years off, when I came back, I redownloaded the game because it wouldn't launch properly. So the redownload worked for that. When I play episode 1 in forest, the Frost Dragon fight crashes at the same place every time. After the opening when he lays down, then gets up and jumps into the air, he supposed to come down and go underground but each time he flies towards the wall and the game crashes right before he supposed to dive down. Please advise me if possible or needed. Please correct this problem if it's a system error. Thank you for your time reading and dealing with this issue.

I have discovered that this happens at every boss fight, in a similar spot, right after the first phase. I ran Central Control and it did it in that boss fight too. So two different boss fights, both ep 1 and 2. Are we confident those fixes described will work? I've never went into that section of my computer. Having a little anxiety over tampering with it.

So it probably is that DEP issue. Have you tried firing a gun offscreen (to the left or right for example) to see if that also crashes? Either way, it would probably confirm the issue if you could post some info from the crashes.

Open Event Viewer (open Start Menu, type Event Viewer, and Windows should show you the default System app), expand Windows Logs on the left, click on Application, wait for it to load the events, and then find the Error event for when PSOBB crashed. It'll look something like this
Code:
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x004f840e
Faulting process id: 0x167E0
Faulting application start time: 0x1DBCB733CA5E621
Faulting application path: C:\EphineaPSO\psobb.exe
Faulting module path: C:\EphineaPSO\dinput8.dll

Post only the Exception code, Fault offset, and the final component of the Faulting module path (not the full path--just whatever is after the final backslash). In my case, it would be this:

Code:
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x004f840e
dinput8.dll

If you don't see an Error event, check the EphineaPSO/log folder to see if you have a dllerror.log file.

Try to post that info for a handful of them if they're different.

I've been playing with a ranger using a spread needle. I have played quite a few games without getting past the boss, during which i have fired the weapon in all angles and camera positions without problem. It's just the phase 1 to phase 2 of the boss battles where I'm noticing crashing, at the moment at least.

I will try to do what you suggested in the very near future and post the results here. If you can think of anything else I should be doing, please let me know. My pc is a little older it's a dell xps with a graphics card and extra ram. Despite its age it is in good order. It also gets cleaned regularly. In the past before I took my break. It ran psobb without an issue.

That's a DEP crash. The first thing in the technical section should address it.

You will probably also crash if you fire a photon bullet weapon off screen. Spread Needle fires a different projectile that is rendered differently and doesn't have this problem.

You think this is being caused by another application attaching itself to psobb? Perhaps something like discord? You said first thing in the tech section but that was the first thread i found that had a disconnection or crashing problem. I went through discord and disabled detection of psobb and disabled any overlapping discord features for psobb. Perhaps that will fix it? If you meant for me to consider another thread could you please give the title of thread or link, kindly. Thank you for your help throughout this.

Hello! I have the same issue. I saw it on Dragon's room phase 2. Then following this thread, I shot offscreen and it crashed.
I already turned on DEP for all programms and services exepted for PsoBB.exe.
Here there are error logs (2 appeared at the same time):

Exception code: 0xc00001a5
Fault offset: 0x004d39da
Identifiant du processus défaillant : 0x4468

Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x004d39d1
Identifiant du processus défaillant : 0x4468

Hope it helps.
Thank you for your time and help
