Yo what's going on everyone, I'm new to the server and wanted to know what should I be doing in the game as a beginner. I've already done the beginners guide to PSO and have a grasp of how things work on a surface level. I dont really understand the section ID and how to get weapons and gear that I want.

I'm also in the Discord but not going to lie it seem a little intimidating.

Anything helps !

Sorry for the repost I just realized there was a introduction thread!!

Welcome on Ephinea!

With PSO2 drop system every player in game see and can collect only his own drops;
Drop table ( https://ephinea.pioneer2.net/drop-charts/normal/ ) shows wich item can be dropped from wich mob. The host ID ( viridia, pinkal, whithill etc) determine wich colored column is in use, so if you join a game the host id will lead drops for all players, if you play solo or host a game will be used your own character ID.

When your playing solo is recommended to select solo mode during party creation (in multiplayer mode mobs are far stronger)

As starting player you can join normal difficult party and get the vibes in; during party selection you can check with TAB the current party composition.
To enjoy some pso story you can select side story quests in a solo mode game only. On multiplayer mode only, the principal assigns Government quests, but those are a bit tricky to party for, and you'll need a quite overleveled char to afford em alone.

Remember to always feed your mag, preferably no dfp one, full mind stat for a fo char or pow/dex stats spread for others.

When you Find a SPECIAL WEAPON tekker results should be refused until it shows +10% from the original drop stats.

Wiki cover quite all info about the game https://wiki.pioneer2.net/
and people in discord are very willing to give any help.

cheers!

First off, Welcome to Ephinea! I guess I can get right into it. Section ID, it’s kind of like a thumbprint that helps determine the rare items monsters can drop. Monsters can drop anything from money to random armors and or weapons.

However each monster in each zone and difficulty have a “rare” drop, and that rare drop is determined by your section ID.

For example, the wolves from Forest 1, in hard mode(where a lot of the common rares get a chance to really start showing up), for Skyly/Bluefull/Viridia/Redria/Oran/Yellowboze/Whitill, the savage wolf can rarely drop a “DB’s Saber” weapon. For Purplenum/Pinkal the savage wolf can drop a “Club of Locanium” cane. And for Greenill, a “Varista” pistol.

When you’re solo or you created a public room, the rare drop charts will follow your Section ID, and will determine what rare items you and everyone else has a chance of finding in that game.

And if you join a game, the drop charts are determined by the party lead’s(the player marked with the color red) section ID.

This kind of drop system encourages playing with others to find items you need/want as well as trading because something that may be easy for you to find, might be impossible for another with their ID.

I hope this clears things up and that my rambling didn’t confuse you more.

Thank you for the insight ! Is it recommended that I level up first before joining a party or that does not matter ?

not really, check the party composition and it's up to you, struggling with people around your level or getting carried while chatting.

usually smurfs on normal mode are truly smurfs, but char levels give a little hint,
a lvl 1 char with a lvl 200 mag equipped is equivalent to a far higher level char, and a full geared lvl 1 char could be stronger than a lvl 200 char

cheers!

*Looks up at you not knowing to either SLAP or HUG you~!* MMnnnnngh!! Your typing reverberates with the tinge of "self doubt"....Leave that Crap at the door when you join one of our community rooms, luv! Gifting gear to nooblets to make a lower level stronger may be a common pitfall, but berating and making new players feel 'worthless' when joining a room is Certainly NOT one of them~! <3!DragonPink18.jpg

That makes me feel better ! frfr !

Good Afternoon Amuro and welcome!

May I also through my limited 2 cents in?
It's nothing much, but!

1) Echoing the others. Level up your mag when you start stabilizing your income, it's a huge boost of power. A lot of people will tell you don't level up defense, but most of the time your first mag isn't going to be the one you keep. So don't panic if you level up your mag in DFP by mistake.

2) I know you'll want to earn a lot of your equipment and you totally should! But if people want to give you stuff, grab it. I know a lot of people that go out of their way to collect stuff to give away to newer players. As funny as it sounds, you'll actually make those people really happy to be able to assist you.

3) Don't be scared to make your own lobbies, but don't be discourage if people don't join. A lot of people only want to play certain quests. So if you make some off the beat lobby for an odd job, you may be waiting longer for people to join.

4) Embrace commands for the game
  • /partyinfo (shows percentages of exp, rare drops and lobby id)
  • /bank (swaps between personal and shared bank)
  • /setname (sets name of the lobby if your leader)
  • /setpass (sets password of the lobby if your leader. Leave blank to have no password)
  • /lobby (Exits current game lobby and returns you to the main player lobby)
  • /luck (Tells you if you feel lucky, which is improved drop rates)
  • /showwep (Shows you what hidden weapons)
  • /matcount (Shows you what your current bonus material stats are LCK. Defense, Power, Mind, Evade, HP and TP)
I think that's everything.... other than Phonton Drops are used as currency for the player economy.

Alrighty! I hope this helps! See you in game!

Sincerely,
B.Tango
