My online.exe is a readme file. I cannot click on it to patch the game. What do I do next?

I am able to put in my name and password. I then select start game and it patches. After patching the only option I have is to hit enter to exit game. I redo the process and same thing happens. It seems to be the same patch. This is my first time trying to install and play. I read the post...
